Watch is great, Battery life for golf poor.
Love the watch and the different available faces. However, I bought it for golf and after 2 months, it would lose battery power after 11 to 13holes. I sent it back to the manufacture, they sent it back and it worked for 18 holes TWICE and then low battery BACK TO NORMAL. I am a single digit golfer and expected more. I'll be looking for something with a proven battery life for 18 holes. .

Complicated
I am eighty one years old. I find the . the watch does a great job counting the shot and recording. I get confused and end up hitting the wrong button almost every time. I may had changed setting upon first using the watch but the watch and I get into an argument when I just want to record the correct score. You tube goes to fast in showing you how to use the watch and I get confused. Would love a simple instruction sheet on how to record the score or change it if the watch is incorrect.

Another great Garmin product
This has been an invaluable tool to add to my golfing game. The ease of looking at the different distances on the course makes playing a hole much quicker than having to refer to cards or notes or pull up a range finder.

S42 -- lots of headaches
I have had a S-42 for several months, buying it bec ause it could cover both my golf acti vities and track steps and such. However, getting this watch to sync with my phone has been one endless headache. I have reloaded the Garmin Connect app several times, to no avail. Only twice i nthis time have I succeeded in syncing -- and those successes seemed to be by accident. The steps provided in the direction have not worked. In addition, the watch will shift to golf mode without my efforts, and spend all day t rying to find a golf course -- thus running down the battery. I would not recommended buying this product.

GPs is sluggish
I am surprised at the time it takes for the sattlelite to find the course. I thought with this being a Garmin product it would be very efficient but I have free apps that connect to the course much faster. Any advice on this issue to improve the situation is appreciated.

There are a few things you can try if your Approach S42 isn't connecting to satellites, including: • Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky (no obstructions, buildings, patio covers, or dense foliage). It may take longer than usual to acquire GPS signal if the device is in a new location. • Confirm that your device has the latest software installed. For instructions on how to check for updates, visit http://ms.spr.ly/6428sWPmy. • Sync your watch with either Garmin Express or the Garmin Golf app before golfing, which will update the predictive orbit files which predict where satellites will be in the sky and reduce GPS acquisition time. • Power the watch off and back on. Great when it works
I love the watch when it works. Today I went to use it and it had no courses and would not sync to my phone. What I researched is I need to hook it up to a computer to update it, but I don’t have a computer.

We're sorry to hear about your experience! You're on the right track with troubleshooting. If your device is unable to find nearby courses: 1. Download and install course updates from the Garmin Express application (http://ms.spr.ly/6421slIJZ). 2. Safely disconnect your device. 3. Go outside, and start a test round of golf to verify the device finds nearby courses.
Disappointing
I have had lots of trouble. It loses its connection to the Garmin ap frequently, even during a golf game. I called Garmin, and they were very helpful. Think I'll have to call again.
