Cute shirt but has strong unpleasant odor

Cute shirt..but…either someone washed it and used one of those scented products and returned it or it was sprayed with fabric refresher prior to shipping! Very strong smell. I have been airing it out to see if it will go away before i decide to keep it. if I choose to wear a scent - perfume etc - it would be awful!! If I wash it and it still smells I would be stuck with it. I prefer not to walk around smelling like my trash bags or floor cleaner! Why is this becessary - unless trying to cover up another odior?? Very disappointed
