These are not water proof. I had mine out on a kayak, not even submerged but of course got a little wet. Didn't attempt to charge or anything. Just pulled it out of the truck to unload it and now it's bricked. Won't turn on or function at all. Of course after my purchased 2 year warranty expired a month ago. Do not recommend this product.

Thanks for your feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve. Our JBL Charge 3 is water-resistant with an IPX7 rating, meaning it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. While not charging, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to see if the unit will unlock. If this does not resolve the issue, you may contact our customer support.
Wake up the neighbourhood when you turn it on.
The startup sound is obnoxious, loud, and can not be disabled. What were they thinking when they added that.

Definitely waterproof
We have had this speaker since 2016. The battery lasts so long and the sounds quality is very impressive for a small speaker. I went to get into my hot tub this morning and was so sad when I saw it floating. I forgot to take it off the ledge last time I soaked. It floated for more than 48 hours and I just knew it was done for. I picked it up, shook it, hit the power button and it fired up! Currently sitting here soaking and it still sounds great!

Didn’t survive a fall
My speaker did not survive a 2 story fall. I had it playing music but the bass was too much and shook the speaker out the window onto the ground 2 stories below.

JBL Charge 3 2022
The JBL Connect app, now JBL Portable, no longer connects to my newly opened Charge 3. I was wondering. Is there any way to install connect plus to my speaker now? I would also like to name my Charge 4s with app as well!

Nice product but disappointing warranty service
The speaker is good but after 3 years it started to decharged in less than 30 min and get some interference in the sound. Now it only works plugged into an outlet. On the website it says 5 years warranty but the costumer service told me it only applies for purchase on their onw website, not from retailers. That makes no sense once it is supposed to be exactly the same product. Why the warranty is only 1 year if you buy from a retailer? It means we pay the same price for products sold by retailers but they are poorer quality? I'm very disappointed with the service, do not recommend it.
