My Take on John Varvatos XX Intense Alright, I've got to talk about John Varvatos XX Intense. I've always been a fan of the whole Varvatos vibe—that cool, slightly edgy, rock-and-roll thing—and this fragrance absolutely nails it. If you're looking for a scent that feels like a night out in a cool city, this is one you need to check out. So, What Does It Actually Smell Like? Right off the bat, you get this awesome, warm blast of spice. It's mostly ginger and cardamom, but it's not sharp or sneezy like some spicy scents can be. There's a little bit of bergamot in there that keeps it from being too heavy from the jump, which is a nice touch. But the magic, for me, happens about 20 minutes in when the scent really settles down. This is where the coffee note comes out to play. Now, don't think you're going to smell like a walking espresso machine. It’s not that kind of coffee. It’s a much smoother, dark-roasted, almost sweet floral coffee vibe that's just incredibly unique. It's the kind of thing that makes someone lean in a little closer. After a few hours, it dries down into something seriously addictive. It gets really creamy and warm, thanks to sandalwood and a ton of tonka bean (which gives it a vanilla/almond feel). It's sweet, but in a masculine, woody way, not a sugary way. It’s the scent that lingers on your jacket the next morning and makes you smile. How It Wears (The Important Stuff) Performance-wise, it's pretty solid. On my skin, I get a good 6-8 hours out of it. It's not a "beast mode" monster that will fill up a room, and honestly, that's a good thing. It just feels right for the evening. I definitely wouldn't wear this to the office; it's a little too seductive for a spreadsheet session. The Bottom Line I'm genuinely impressed with John Varvatos XX Intense. It's a modern, dark, and sweet fragrance that gets compliments. If you're a fan of scents like Armani Code Profumo or Azzaro's The Most Wanted, you'll probably love this. Great scent of cedar wood and coffee
This scent is great! Not too overpowering, with perfect notes of ginger, coffee, and cedar wood. The packaging is very sleek and mysterious. The scent lasts quite a while too and I’ve gotten many compliments!
