Dud. Not worth the money.
Not exactly thrilled. Have to turn darkness control almost to max to get even a lightly toasted color.

Big enough for for 4 slices, but small enough for
I have owned this toaster for quite some time and it has worked flawlessly. The lift and check feature is just perfect to ensure what you are toasting doesn’t over cook.

Preheating improves toasting quality
The heat is not sufficient to toast bread properly because if used as directed, by the time bread is toasted, the bread has been dried out. We've tried all sorts of different types and thicknesses of bread and the only way we've be able to get the toaster to toast properly, is to preheat the toaster by first running an cycle with it empty. Now with a hot toaster, the toast cycle is shorter, the bread is nice and crusty brown on the outside and the inside is soft and chewy

This toaster does not toast properly. It is on the highest setting and still the toast does not turn brown. I have to toast bread twice. Very disappointed in this toaster

It’s okay
Not as much “toasting power” as we’d like. Even with the lever on highest setting, it’s slow & takes 2 cycles.

So disappointing
Where to begin? The good - I have limited counter space in my kitchen and was attracted to the footprint of this toaster. It does fit well in my kitchen and I really like the look of it. It adds a nice pop of color. That being said, unless you are using sandwich type bread two slices do not fit in this toaster. More important it does not toast well. I have to put the control almost to the maximum to get a moderately toasted piece of bread. This is so disappointing from KitchenAid, a brand I have long trusted. I guess I'll have to look for a replacement.
