Big disappointment

I’m reviewing my purchase of this foundation from June 2022 to be fair. It was when they had the big reforestation from the cult classic one they used to have. I ordered the same shade, undertone, etc. as I always had and it was much more yellow than the old formula had been. The consistency was thinner and runnier, it was not the same foundation I had once known and loved. The bigger problem was that I had put my faith in them so much that the first time I had used the new formula was my wedding day. As you would imagine I was freaking out and very scared as to what I was going to do, because I didn’t have time to go out and buy a different foundation. But with a few different mixes of colors I made it work. But you better believe I have never picked it up since. *The reason I’m so late on this review is because I just found out they had deleted my original one.

Camera-Ready Skin, No Filters

I rarely say that a foundation works perfectly in real life and on camera, but Make Up For Ever HD is exactly that product. The first thing I noticed is that skin still looks like skin. The texture is lightweight and seamless — no mask effect — yet it evens out the complexion beautifully and makes the skin look smooth, fresh, and well cared for. On camera, the result is outstanding: the face looks clean and balanced, the skin tone is even, no texture is emphasized, no heaviness or flatness. What really impressed me is that this foundation doesn’t “eat” the face on camera. Instead, it preserves dimension, structure, and natural freshness — which is crucial for photos and video. After wearing it, the face looks polished, confident, and camera-ready. For me, this foundation is a true professional staple — reliable, elegant, and incredibly photogenic.

Terrible new formula

After using the matte velvet foundation for over 10 years, very disappointed in this new formula. The shade that compared to my old shade is so far off and foundation is very watery. Does not cover well at all.

Completely wrong online color match

Purchased online using the color match system listing the brand and color of my current foundation. What I received was very dark, orangey I looked like I had Oompa Loompa face paint on. Lesson learned when purchasing a new brand of foundation, get your color match in person

Poor replacement for the Ultra HD Foundation.

Sadly, this product does not come close to the Ultra HD. I do not understand discontinuing a great product. This foundation has at least 50% less coverage, does not pass the all day wear test and after trying four shades still no shade match. I am sure it's fine for some people but you've lost me as a customer.

Pls bring back the old formula

Cakey and oxidizes…the new shades don’t match and the formula is not at all like the ultra HD one which I used for 10 years.Pls bring back the old formula and shades…!

Since this formula can dry down darker than the original shade, we recommend choosing a color 1-2 shades lighter.
