Not my favorite.
This is my first pair of shoes from Merrell. I run regularly and walk about four miles a day, so I was curious to try the brand and see how they performed with frequent use. The overall build quality seems solid, though only time will tell how they hold up long-term. Comfort has been average for me. They perform well on dirt trails and uneven terrain, which is what they’re designed for, but I’ve found them to be surprisingly poor on paved surfaces, especially when wet. Even short stretches of pavement between trails feel slick, and I’ve slipped and fallen more than once. While my feet don’t feel sore, I’m always relieved to take them off at the end of the day. Based on my experience, I won’t be purchasing this model again. These may work for someone who stays strictly on dry trails, but I’d caution anyone who expects to encounter pavement along the way or is looking for a comfortable shoe.

GREAT SHOE
Recently purchased the Nova 4 in cement colors from Bass Pro. Cannot believe the comfort. I am super pronated on my left foot. Great support with the wide sole and thick heel. Almost feels like walking barefoot but with great support.

Got a pair in basil and ran all spring and summer. Then got a pair in Greige for running and a pair of Tangelo for everyday wear. Figuring out getting another running pair for shoe rotation. The shoes are predictable, which is what I look for, especially for running. Perfect for gravel running as it isn't plush and I can feel the ground. Also, they grip the ground well in different types of weather. Works well on technical trails too. Totally recommend.

4 pairs for rotation
Excellent running shoes for both trail and road. I have 4 pairs of these shoes, 2 pairs in wide width (for all day use) and regular width for running/walking

Big Change from Nova 3
Nova 3 was one of my favorite trail runners. Nova 4 fits very differently. Longer and narrower. Huge underfoot support, borderline too much. Don’t dislike the shoe, just like the older model better.

Merrell Nova 4 - My New Favorite Walking Shoe
I've been a Merrell customer for several years, wearing the Nova and then the Nova 2. I recently purchased the new Nova 4 and couldn't be more satisfied. Comfortable from the first time I put them on. Walked 20+ miles over cobblestone, gravel, pavement and stairs without issue. Highly recommended!
