Hot water

The kettle sent steam through the spout and from under the lid. It was impossible to lift it without risk.of a burn even with a hot pad.

A Great Tea Kettle

The Tea Kettle looks great on my stove. It's light enough to fill it up and place it on the stove. The release to close the spout is very convenient. I picked it because it doesn't have the rubber around the spout that can melt if you forget it. I highly recommended it.

Spout lid fire hazard problem

This is a safety factor I believe would apply to all tea kettles. This particular kette we had for a number of years and I noticed the spout like didn't close always and I would push it shut manually so heat wouldn't escape. Last week I didn't close the lid spout and never heard the tea kettle whistle. I thought I probably didn't turn it on and went to check in the kitchen. All of the water in the kettle had evaporated and the kettle was so hot the bottom seals were starting to melt. Luckily there was no fire and no harm to the stove, but the kettle is done.
