Brilliant TV - 1 Downside (Forced Advert on Home)

Great TV. Lovely visuals & sound. Works much better with my game console & sound system too. Only downside is they for a permanent advert panel at the top of the Home Screen which you cannot remove and it also blares sound if you accidentally hover over it.

Nearly Perfect.

The LG 83” G5 is a stunning TV and easily one of the best displays I’ve owned. The picture quality is phenomenal—deep blacks, excellent contrast, and a clean, vibrant image that looks fantastic no matter what I’m watching. Everything feels quick and responsive, and after a couple of weeks of daily use, the performance has been consistently excellent. From a pure viewing standpoint, this TV absolutely delivers. Where it falls short is in the gallery experience, which was a major reason I chose this model. During my research, I reviewed what appeared to be the gallery functionality for this TV, but after purchase I realized much of that content reflected the previous version of LG’s Gallery rather than the current Gallery Plus. The current implementation is more limited and seems to remove support for truly static images and other features that previously existed. I haven’t found a way to restore the older version, which was disappointing. Customization options could also be improved. More control over gallery behavior and system settings would better match the premium nature of the TV and elevate the overall experience. Overall, the LG 83” G5 offers incredible picture quality and strong performance, and I’m very happy with it as a TV. With improvements to the gallery software and deeper customization options, it could easily be a five-star product.

Hi, Adam. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your LG TV. It’s awesome to hear how much the 83" G5 has impressed you — deep blacks, vibrant color, and that smooth, responsive performance are exactly what this series is designed to deliver, and it’s great knowing it’s hitting the mark for you on the viewing side. Your insight on the Gallery experience is equally valuable. The way you described comparing the previous Gallery features to the current Gallery Plus really highlights how important customization and static‑image options are for a TV that doubles as décor. Feedback like yours helps shine a light on where the software experience can evolve to better match the premium hardware. Un-unboxing Experience

I was genuinely excited for the LG G5 65-inch — on paper, it checks every box. Unfortunately, I still can’t comment on picture quality, brightness, motion handling, or gaming performance. The reason is simple: the “out-of-box experience” hasn’t progressed past the box. Without a functioning setup, the core strengths of the TV remain purely theoretical. For a premium product at this price point, the inability to even reach a first-use experience is extremely disappointing. I hope future buyers have a smoother path from purchase to actually seeing the screen turn on.

Disappointing :(

To get straight to the point…. Picture quality and sound quality are amazing. There are a lot of options in settings. It sits flat against the wall. However, the operative system (web iOS I believe) is quite disappointing and annoying. “Home Screen” several section that if you don’t need, you can’t remove. For example there is a “card section” for various services. Even though you can remove all the “cards” you are still left with massive notification “add cards…”. Above all there is a random photo with a notification “start new experience…” and “go to apps”. I don’t understand why that is there. I’m already using apps which are displayed directly underneath and also I have been using TV for quite some time so there is no need for “welcome to webOS”. Below that there are shortcuts to “device functions” aka guides for new users. Once again, there is no need for that as I have been using tv and yet you can’t remove that either. All in all, this webOS reminds me of early android phones that had loads of bloatware and you couldn’t remove it. If I knew this upfront I would have not purchased this TV, now I’m stuck with a premium product that operates like a low end android phone.

Incredible TV, an upgrade to my older OLED

I recently purchased this as an upgrade to my 77" 2019 LG OLED C9 - and wow - this TV has shown how much OLEDs have improved over the past 6 years. Brightness - this in HDR is out of this world, the contrast between the black and the display is incredible. And having been using an LG OLED for a while, I'm used to the excellent contrast Movies - the Dolby Vision capabilities along with HDR have been excellent, re-watching some of the IMAX movies I've seen have been super enjoyable Sports - watching some Thursday night football from Amazon in 4k - chef's kiss - we could see every blade of grass on the field and the motion was super fluid, there is no comparison Gaming - having proper VRR and 120hz gaming is so nice, the PS5 shines on this gaming experience Overall this has been a wonderful upgrade into the current generation of OLEDs and I will continue to use LG OLEDs (I have 3 now!) as my primary TVs for movie, sports, and gaming

Hi, Erik. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your LG TV. Your upgrade story is such a joy to read — going from the C9 to the latest OLED and feeling that leap in brightness, HDR, and overall performance is exactly the kind of experience we love hearing about. The way you described movies, sports, and gaming all shining in their own ways really shows you’re getting the full power of what OLED can do. And owning three LG OLEDs? That’s some elite‑level home‑theater dedication. For more feedback or questions, please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. Thanks for choosing LG! #LifesGood ^James

Just ok.

The tv looks great, but based on the price I think the picture of the B5 or C5 is nearly as good. If you absolutely need the "top end" tv, then get the G5. Otherwise, save money and get the other models
