Oh my! I got this in the Burgundy (which is a darker burgundy than the Metallic Starburst--both the velvet and the leather have a little more purple and a little more brown to them than the redder Metallic Starburst bags) and it is beautiful beyond words. I wasn't sure how the pinks and mint greens of the embroidery would work with the burgundy background, but they are perfect, and the quality of the embroidery is like nothing I have ever seen before. There isn't a stitch out of place anywhere. This is an heirloom quality bag. The frame is fantastic (although it is a bag you will need two hands to close, since it has the two kisslock closures), and the handle is really the icing on the cake. My only tiny qualm is that the handle has a habit of not standing up straight (it kind of flops over to one side) which mars the architectural look of the bag. It's not a problem if you are holding the handle, only if you are using the crossbody strap or have set the bag down. A very small thing, but worth noting. Overall, though, this is one of the most beautiful bags in my collection. I love the Kelmscott in all of its iterations, but this velvet version may be the height of what the Kelmscott can be--the perfect truly special special occasion bag.
