Defective
It did not pop 1 kernel of popcorn. The unpopped corn went all over the room.

It is unfortunate that you encountered this situation with your Presto® hot air corn popper. However we would like to share with you that all of our hot air poppers operate by weight. If there is not enough weight in the chamber, the hot air will blow out unpopped kernels. Please refer to your book as to the suggested amount of corn needed for a successful batch. Note: Some varieties of small and lighter weight kernel popcorn are not recommended for use with hot air poppers.

Not safe for kids to use. No off and on button,n/s
I purchase this item because of my grandkids love to eat popcorn and love to make popcorn. However, this machine is not kids friendly because they do not have an on or off button. They have to unplug it and plug it in. I don’t think it’s safe for kids to do.

Most Presto® hot air poppers are manufactured without an on/off switch. Your popper has been approved by Underwriters Laboratories and is within their guidelines for safety. We do have poppers that have on/off switches - stock numbers 04867 and 04812 are hot air poppers. Stock number 05206 is an oil popper. These choices may be better suited for you. We had one of these in our home for years, kids could make their own with fear of burning themselves. I was happy to see you still make it!

Dangerous – Great Until It Caught Fire!
I was initially really happy with this air fryer. For about a year, it worked perfectly – easy to use, cooked popcorn evenly, and became a go-to appliance in my kitchen. Unfortunately, one night while using it exactly as I always have, it suddenly caught on fire. There was no warning – just immediate smoke. Thankfully, I was nearby and able to unplug it and put it out quickly, but it could have been a much more serious situation. I’m extremely disappointed and concerned that an appliance I trusted could fail so dangerously after only a year. Please be cautious if you own this model, and don’t leave it unattended while in use. A great product should never turn into a fire hazard.

Works well, but popcorn is chewier than oil-popped
This Presto air popper has worked for years without a glitch, and I'm grateful for the healthy popcorn it produces. However, the chewy texture of the popcorn is not as satisfying as the crispier results you get with oil popping. It's fine for me, but I probably wouldn't use this popper to serve guests.

You're right. "Chewy" popcorn is a normal characteristic when using any hot air popper. It may give the perspective of being stale as well. To attempt to alleviate this, we suggest that you hydrate your corn prior to using. You perform this by adding 1 teaspoon per 1 cup of corn into an airtight container. Shake the container and refrigerate for 2-3 days to distribute the moisture evenly.

Poor Plastic Quality
I bought this a while ago but recently just used it. I did four appropriate sized batches of popcorn in a row, without melting butter on top. After the fourth batch the butter container had melted and now I can't remove it. I am extremely disappointed.

Not good
Un popped kernels fly out for an extended period before it begins to pop. It worked for two popping then it began to spew the un popped kernels. I am giving up on it

If you are using white or rice types of popcorn, they are lighter and will be tossed out of the popper. Yellow popcorn works best. You'll want to make sure you are using a full, level scoop of popcorn for best performance, as this popper operates by weight.
