Presto Quality is gone as of Sept. 2024

In Sept. 2024 I bought a 12" Presto Electric Skillet with Glass Cover to replace a 15 year old model. I only use it twice a month to cook fresh blueberry pancakes. I noticed that right away the heating element turned blackish and the dough stuck to it. I figured I could work around that. I did realize this fry pan was not made of the quality materials Presto used to use. I soon had to use oil to make it possible to flip the pancakes. The pan was still useable. Today it was obvious the temperature was fluctuating wildly. Some of the cakes wouldn't brown, others burned before the inside was done. I couldn't even scrape the burned areas to a useable cleanliness. This is not the Presto company that I have known for sixty years.

I never received the skillet

Has to be replaced every couple of years.

Only last a couple of years, does not provide equal heating on the cooking surface, screws in the handles loosen and need to be retightened periodically.

Defective lid

I have used this maybe twice a month for 8 months.. This happened yesterday while cooking dinner It destroyed all of the meat in the skillet..

Slippery legs and not flush handle

Have used the skillet only once, but love the way it cooks. BUT…. the handle is not curved so it is not flush with the top of the lid. When washing the lid, water collects under the handle. The plastic legs have nothing on them to prevent the pan from sliding around. Makes it very hard to stir or turn food over in the pan with one hand. You need to lay the lid down and hold on to the handle to keep the pan from sliding all over the place. This is a very dangerous design of the pan.

Just received my Presto 11' skillet. Put it together and it does not sit level on the counter. Switched the handles to the opposite side to see if that made a difference. No change. Checked my granite counter and it is level. Very disappointed and I haven't even used it yet.

Presto electric skillet

Works great! I love that the cord is removable so that the pan can be washed by hand or in dishwasher.
