6 days agoTerrible filter design
It makes fine coffee but the wraparound filters just plain stupid, They are awkward and a PITA to use. Every other percolator I have ever used uses either no filter or the simple round filters. If you use a round filter you get sludge. I've kept it too long to return it so I'm either going to donate it or put it in a garage sale.

I bought this percolator 1 month ago and it’s very unstable for the coffe quality. Often too clear. Put more coffee and stay too pale.

Weak coffee can be caused by the perk tube not seated properly in the perk well. It can also be caused by a build-up of oils and grounds in the percolator. Wash and rinse the inside of your coffee maker, cover and basket assembly with warm, soapy water after each use. The perk tube, including the washer (which needs to spin freely), and spout can be cleaned with a brush. CAUTION! To prevent electrical shock and damage to your coffee maker, do not immerse the coffee maker in water or other liquid or allow the plug receptacle or base to get wet. Wipe the outside surface with a damp cloth and thoroughly drop with a towel. It is IMPORTANT to keep the plug receptacle area dry. If you notice any moisture, dry thoroughly before use. To keep your coffee maker functioning properly, periodically remove oil, stains, and any sediment from the inside of the coffee maker. To clean, add water up to the 6-cup mark. Then prepare the coffee maker as you would for making a full pot of coffee, expect add 2 tablespoons of dry automatic dishwashing detergent to the basket in place of the coffee and do not use a disposable filter. Once the signal light illuminates, allow the coffee maker to remain plugged in for 15 to 20 minutes. Unplug the coffee maker, pour out the cleaning solution and then rinse the inside of the coffee maker and the parts with running water. Fill the coffee maker with fresh water up to the 6 mark and perk again. Pour out the water and thoroughly rinse the inside of the coffee maker and the parts. Depending on the severity of the staining, it may be necessary to repeat this cleaning procedure. If, after you have tried this cleaning solution, you are still getting weak coffee, please contact our Customer Service Department by phone 1-800-877-0441. We are available Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm Central Time.

2 months agoPoor design limits the usefulness
We purchased this 12 cup Presto electric percolator 2 weeks ago to replace our 12 cup Farberware electric percolator, which finally died after 6 years of almost daily use. The Presto pot works well if you want to make 2-6 cups of coffee, but anything more than that results in grounds flowing over the basket and into the pot of coffee. We initially tried making 12 cups, then 10, without a filter since the perforations at the bottom of the basket are tiny and we felt that would provide enough filtering. We also tried using the provided wrap around filters but were still limited to 6 cups at most. The basket is shallow and the perforations in the bottom do not allow for the heated water to drain quickly enough.

3 months agoBe aware the the perk well is Aluminum
I bought this a few months ago. For elegance, function, and coffee flavor I would have given it a 10 review if it were possible until I discovered it had an aluminum perk well. This company is not transparent about this! Nowhere does it mention anything about the aluminum well. They make it sound like the entire thing is stainless steel. Probably because they know they would sell less of them for people worried about aluminum. If this is a food grade aluminum, and or with a food grade coating to prevent leaching, they could easily add this in so people are not blindsided and feel comfortable with it. Since they do not do this, it makes it questionable whether this food grade or not. So, just be aware before you buy this. I only gave it a three star due the lack of transparency, which leads to the question: is this a deceitful practice to ensure higher sales??
