These Pyle PDWR55 speakers produce excellent sound. In my opinion, these speakers are not intended to reproduce hi-level bass. They are designed to reproduce detailed midrange, projected voice and intricate treble. The 5 inch woofer (bass drivers) feature upgraded aluminum cones. Aluminum is a lighter, stiffer material, excellent for reproducing accurate midrange response. Coupled to a rubber half-roll cone suspension with fair cone excursion and a hefty magnet (possibly 20 oz), results in very accurate driver. The tweeter is a 0.5 inch polymer dome. Polymer, is also a very light material. The small 1/2-inch dome allows this tweeter to reproduce the highest notes. A diffuser lens and waveguide aid in dispersing the highs, thus creating a more enjoyable sound stage and improved imaging. This type of tweeter lens also acts to boost the tweeter output, essentially producing a bigger sound in the high range. As a side note, this recessed tweeter design places the tweeter voice-coil roughly in parallel with the woofer VC, making this speaker more-or-less phased aligned. Linear phase was a big thing years ago. In theory, speakers mounted in linear phase can improve sound reproduction by allowing all frequencies to reach the listener's ear at the same time, thus avoiding phasing issues. The cabinets are plastic, but seem rugged. Since they are sealed 'acoustic suspension' types, there is no issue with internal resonation exiting through a port and coloring the sound. The brackets seem to also be plastic. But they seem ok. The included speaker wire is around 6 feet long for each speaker. But, it is very thin cable, maybe 22-25 gauge. I recommend upgrading to 16 gauge or use some lamp cord if you have it handy. These Pyle speakers are also quite efficient, meaning they play loudly with less power. They project quite a bit of sound. I believe they are rated at 90 dB, which is pretty good. These are 8 ohm speakers. As such, they can safely be used with virtually any amplifier, such as a car amp, home audio amp/receiver, etc. As long as you understand these are smaller woofers meant to project midrange/voice and not powerful low bass, I believe these Pyle speakers will be more than satisfactory. These Pyle speakers offer a less boxy sound, possibly due to the better quality woofer cones and large tweeter lens. Highly Recommended
