My favorite, and I've tried a lot!

Great value for the money. Great sound, you can use rechargeable batteries in it. I work outside as a gardener, and I beat the heck out of this radio. It stood up to my worst for almost 3 years! It's the third one I've owned, and I'm going to get another one, because I have tried others of varying price and size, and they don't hold a candle to this one!

Extremely poor reception.

I live just outside of a larger metropolitan area. We have a full spectrum of radio stations available. This radio receives exactly one of those many stations.

It has old fashioned "Dad" charm

This AM/FM pocket radio with FM antenna and wrist strap is definitely a throwback from the past. This radio is definitely part of the Luddites' starter kit. Reception on strong stations is excellent, but is prone to any interference on the AM band, just like any other unfiltered AM radio. FM reception is excellent on strong stations too, but be careful with the antenna, it only unfolds one way. It's not the most sensitive radio, so I wouldn't use it for DXing. The stations are pretty crammed together, but if you ever got a Walkman from your folks in the 80s, then you already know what that's like. It's not waterproof, so don't take it with you into the shower. The headphone jack is monaural, but will take a stereo plug, but not the newer 4 contact ones and, surprisingly, it *does not* come with a belt clip. So, if you want to feel old fashioned, here's a good start.

radio malfunctioning

radio only works for a short period of time, then shuts off. New batteries do not solve the problem.
