Very disappointed in Sony with this player
This is the worst music player I have ever owned. I think they used an Android system from 2010. It is clunky, slow as molasses and not intuitive. Skip this junk.

Hi bdfesq, We're sorry to hear you're experiencing sluggish performance with your NW-A306 Walkman. Because the player runs on a modern Android platform, background apps and system caches can sometimes cause the device to feel slow or clunky. To help speed up your device, please try performing a simple system restart by holding down the power button for 2 seconds and selecting Restart. Additionally, ensuring your device is fully updated to the latest system software can significantly improve overall system stability and performance. For step-by-step instructions on updating your firmware or managing your device settings, please visit our support page: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/digital-music-players-nw-nwz-a-series/nw-a306. Thanks for choosing Sony. Best regards, Eliab
Good but……
Bought this a month ago to replace the older Walkman thinking it would be straightforward to fill up with music like the old one, unfortunately I am still struggling but I will keep trying

Really Love My New Walkman
Was finding using Music Streaming services a bit of a pain and didn’t like having to devote a lot of memory on the mobile to store music. Longed for the days of the old iPod. It was so much simpler, you chose the song you wanted, downloaded it to your iPod and it was yours - no monthly subscription. Thought it would never be possible until we found the Walkman A306. It’s complicated at first, as the instructions are hard to follow and understand but once you master these using the device becomes intuitive. Once you’ve added your music collection to the memory card it’s really easy to create different playlists. The sound quality is also good. Really enjoying using it.

Solid player for the $$, but Volume is a pain
Don't buy the Europe/North America NW-A306 models. Just don't. Spend the extra time & money, and find a Japanese model. The Europe/NA models are neutered with "hearing safety" features. Less power, less volume, and a pesky Volume Alert pop-up every 20 hours of play (which drops the volume, until you click OK on the player). So if you're listening at the gym, or in your car, or at a party/pool/picnic -- you'll need to stop what you're doing, grab the player, and click OK. Just a massive inconvenience. Almost like it was designed by Sony Legal or Engineering, with zero consideration for the real-world user experience. It would be nice if Sony released an update, allowing users to opt-out of the Volume Alert. Until then, I have to deduct some points. Strictly as a player, I give it 4.5 stars. Then subtract 0.5 stars for Google bloat, and 1 star for the Volume issues.

Hi Ponybrew, We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume notifications on the NW-A306. To help maximize your volume, please try these quick steps: Disable AVLS: Ensure the Automatic Volume Limiter System is turned off in your sound settings. Bluetooth Sync: Enable media volume sync if you are paired with external speakers or headphones.
