Web ID: 6722957Great watch, great cause
I've been wanting a Seiko "Turtle" for some time now and finally went with this model. This limited edition "Save the Ocean" is great. Seiko donates part of the proceeds to the non-profit Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center that raises awareness of ways to preserve and protect the planets waters and endangered marine life. So I get a great watch and help our ocean friends too.

Blue Turtle
Bought one of theses, and a black turtle. All of the size, shape, quality, etc comments I wrote in my Seiko Turtle review on Macys.com (by ScubaGuy) hold true for this watch as well. The blue color is interesting... It’s not too bright a blue to look girly, but still light enough to always look blue. If you tilt the watch at juuuust the right angle, the lighter blue lines in the face appear. It’s a nice subtle effect, and not as bold as effect as it looks like on the website. The bezel is a blue fading to black gradient that is SUPER nice. However, the blue face is just a little too dressy to look right with the rubber strap. As s result, it somehow looks like a cheaper watch (according to the 4 people I asked to compare the two on my wrist). On a metal bracelet, it might have looked better... The bezel ring’s entire edge is also a medium dark gunmetal color. I’m definitely not a fan. It definitely cheapens the look of the watch significantly in my opinion.
Best! But?!
I loves this watch, good looking, best watch for the price and luminicence is wonderful. Accuracy is as good as my Rolex. But.... 1. You get the squeaking sound feom the band at the lug joint. 2. Sounds from i side the watch, may be spring or may be rotor. But it sounds like a old door hinge even by 5months from wearing. But I am confident that it might be just a single piece fault. As they are not teated as rigerous as expensive bands before selling.
Another Gorgeous Seiko
Seiko has done it again--yet another outstanding special edition turtle Diver! If you don't care for blue, then this one's not for you. But if you do, the 'Save the Ocean' gradient wave face is mesmerizing and positively glows in the sunlight. The Lumibrite hands and markers are easy to read and hold their brightness throughout the night, one of the reasons I bought another Seiko, rather than a competing brand. I've only had it a week, so can't be exact on its accuracy, but so far seems to be keeping time perfectly. My wrist is about average, and the watch does not look out of proportion. It is suitably heavy, about what I expect from Seiko and gives a feeling of confident sturdiness, as have all the Seikos I've purchased over the years. My Seikos are workhorses, I beat the daylights out of them (it's not intentional), and have yet to have a Seiko fail me, despite the hard use I give them. Even after years of daily wear, they still look good. I expect the dark coating on the stem and bezel of this one to get scratched over time, but doubt that will be anything other than a minor cosmetic problem. I'd probably not choose this one as a dress watch or for formal business wear, but short of that, no reason you couldn't wear it full time. The silicone band is comfortable, but therein lies the only flaw in this one. The sliding metal strap holder does not stay put and frequently slips off. Really needs to be manufactured a bit tighter for a secure fit. A dab of nail polish or something similar on the underside to build it up a bit should fix the issue, but a more secure clasp to start with wouldn't have been amiss. Overall, a beautiful Seiko I expect to wear for years, and an absolute bargain at holiday pricing.
Another great Turtle
This is my second turtle and the first being the SRPA21 I got two years ago for xmas. Great watch and still one of my favorite watches to wear because of the case itself. I do not normally buy another watch basically the same unless I really really like the design. I have done it with the recent Samurai reissues where I got the pepsi and then later on bought the orange version. Both are super cool. Having said that, each one has it's own personality. But being a turtle, this case is super comfortable and with it's 22mm drilled lugs, you can easily swap out straps to no end! I am guilty of that with all my watches, this one is no different. Besides the classic turtle case and it's fantastic wear on a 6.5 inch wrist, there's the dial and the color. Pictures really cannot do it justice! I have heard this and seems like a cheezy cliche, but it is true. In the metal, the dial shines and draws you in, just like watching a calm lake at sunset or sunrise. It's really a tranquil type of piece. Oh and the real subtle crown and bezel in a pvd coating to really gives it a different look. Being a Seiko, I'd be remiss if we don't expect the lume on here to be just as bright as any divers out there with the same name. I just don't know how they do it! This is a special edition piece where I heard that Seiko gives back to a charity for the "save the ocean" cause. This is indeed a special edition without being a special high end price for what you get and what you get is a great watch and versatile for casual or even a dressy suit. In the suit, I'd suggest a different band, like a mesh or milanese band.
