Worst product

It advertised that you can control the device when you are away. WRONG I was only able to control the device when I was at home under my wifi. I set timers so that the lights will come on at a certain time so I didn't have to walk into a dark house, sometimes it would work most of the time it would not. Whenever I was at home and I was upstairs and wanted to turn off the lamp I would get a message saying device not in range when I'm just upstairs. I wanted to contact switchmate to address the issues and you can only email them. I returned all 3 back to the store.

Night Light and Two Remote Control Outlets - Handy

I got this for one of my bedrooms so I could have a lamp turn off and on by itself and so I could turn the lamp on and off without having to go into the room to do it. Installation was simple, just plug it in. I use the Switchmate App on my iPhone and after installing it was simple to add the outlet in the App. The App updated the software on the switch automatically (which I guess is good. I am not sure what it changed, but it all worked easy enough.). Once the switch was installed I was able to set up my on and off times. Surprising me, the switch also connected to my WiFi so now I can turn it on and off when not home. I have a couple other brands of smart switches around the house for controlling a fan and hot water recirculating pump, but this is the only double outlet and it looks nicer and has a built in night light. So far so good. Another bonus is the switch connects to my Smartswitch light switches (I have 3) and now I can control those when away from home if I want. Truthfully, I got all these because I wanted everything automated and I haven’t had much reason to use the remote capability to turn my scheduled lights off or on manually from the App. Once I set the timers in the App I have pretty much let them just run as programmed. If you want to control your plugged in stuff or lights to turn on and off on a schedule, the Switchmate products make it easy to do with no wiring or installation.
