Band Deteriorated

I gave this watch as a XMAS gift to my daughter who took it back with her when she left after the holidays. Upon putting the watch on her wrist, she informed me it was all Deteriorated and breaking apart. I was very embarrassed and disappointed with Macys having such old or worn or poor conditioned merchandise.
