Performance matches its price
I bought this watch primarily to track heart rate and GPS position for running, walking and cycling. Pros: -light weight -bargain price -great GPS performance -excellent battery life -integrates with Strava Cons: -inconsistent accuracy of heart rate monitoring -clunky Timex Smart app -ugly watchface choices with limited customization options The specs and pricepoint of the Timex were appealing so I took the dive. Immediate impressions were good, despite some frustration learning to use the app. There is also a bit of learning curve to figuring out how to effectively use the watch to match the types of exercise that you do. However the watch wears well and you barely notice it on your wrist, particular compared to some of the macho-huge products of other companies. Where the watch falls flat is the accuracy of the heart rate monitoring. During both mountain and road cycling, the heart rate monitoring does not work consistently. At the beginning of one my rides I start with a moderate climb, and my heart rate (measured manually) ramps up pretty quickly to ~ 120 bpm ... and the Timex is still measuring 90 bpm. Perhaps this is a sampling latency issue but in looking at ride data later the watch stays pegged there despite significant climbing on the bike. When I review the ride data from a different manufacturer’s watch (obtained on different days) there is a clear correlation between increase in heart rate and elevation gain. Unfortunately I do not see this consistency with the Timex. I have had rides where the HR was pegged below 100 bpm for over an hour which was completely incorrect. (And yes, I tried readjusting the watch, moving it to a different location on my wrist, changing the tightness of the band, making sure the OHRM lens was clean, etc.) I have pored over all available reviews on the internet to see if others have experienced this -- and no one seems to mention this outside of their assessment of the intrinsic limitations of wrist-based OHRM technology. However, I have to believe that there is either a limitation in the implementation of this technology in the Timex device (because devices of other manufacturers did not display such a huge discrepancy) or that I have a defective device. The pricepoint of the Timex means that there will be compromises (as seen with the software, app, and watch UI) but I think the OHRM inaccuracy during activity is close to a dealbreaker. Heart rate monitoring is one of the primary functions of the device, and it does not do it well. If the OHRM was more consistently accurate, this would be a 5-star device but in its current implementation, is a 3-star device.

no replacement bands
My husband got this and loved it-but the band broke and there does not seem to be a replacement band. I am super disappointed because he loved the watch, but the band broke within a few months and he has been on the phone countless times trying to figure out a replacement band and no one is responding.

Hello, we have reached out to you regarding a band replacement for your watch. We are also working on having replacements available through Timex.com. You can also use any 24mm watch band which uses standard spring bars.
No Sleep tracking after 6:00AM
Received this week. Nice watch, almost all perfect for tracking 16/24. Big issue with sleep tracking. No tracking after 6:00AM like some others brands devices. I go to sleep between 6:00AM and 7:00AM so never sleep register by the Timex R300. Only track when I go to bed early some days at 3:00AM or 4:00AM. All other is perfect : Timer, stopwatch, alarm, notification, steps count, HRM no really continue but usable. Just no sleep tracking, so I can not use until it works 24/24 to track sleep.

What, no lap/split time on stopwatch function?
I like the GPS and heartbeat functions and the I-phone app features but can't believe Timex removed the lap/split time function that I always used on previous Ironman watches. Any plans to include this valuable feature in future models or as software update Timex?

We appreciate your feedback. You might want to try with the stopwatch feature that the R300 has. Press the center button to start it. Once it is started the center button pauses it, and the down button takes a lap. Up to 99 laps can be recorded. When paused, the up button resets it, or the down pusher allows you to review the lap splits.
