I like that it has so many features, but the battery drain in it for using even half the features, is pretty quick. The solar charge doesnt work like it should. And eventually the battery stops charging no matter how many times you clean the pegs and ports, and use a different charging cord. Keeping everything clean doesn't seem to help it either. Sadly.

Unfortunate Outcome Again
This is the third Garmin watch I have purchased and is my second Instinct watch. My initial watch died after about 2 years of everyday use, which I wasn't too surprised about. My second watch, a Garmin Instinct was great until about the two year mark as well when the battery would no longer hold a charge for more than a day. It was determined that he battery had gone bad. I wore this watch every day and was in saltwater a lot with it as well, It had taken over two years of very hard use and had functioned flawlessly until the battery went bad. I liked the Instinct so much I went out and bought another. Again for about two years it has been flawless. I use it for a lot of hiking, hunting and biking and it has served me well. However wen starting an activity the watch began to shut itself off for no reason, usually after acquiring the GPS signal and then pressing the side button to start the activity. The watch will also randomly shut itself off either during an activity or during everyday use. I have done a full factory reset multiple times, tried all of the various "fixes" that are recommended with no success. The only time I can get the watch to operate properly is if it is fully charged. Which while hunting for multiple days defeats the purpose of having a solar capable watch with a long battery life. Of Course the watch is out of the warranty period (again) and it only truly is useful as a traditional watch. I really wanted to be able to like this watch but the consistent problems have me hesitant to buy a replacement or even upgrade to a Fenix. I have many other Garmin products and all have performed as expected, except the watches. Search online and you will see this is a known problem for over a year with no fix or support from Garmin. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't I want to throw it into the woods. If you can afford to upgrade to a Fenix, that is the route I would go as many friends have them and do not have the same issues as the Instinct series.

My little electric best friend
Never knew I needed a watch till I got this one. I love it to death. I got it mostly for biking as it's a new hobby, it makes me push myself daily to get everything out of it. Keeps my steps and my heart rate and is tough as nails. I work in industrial maintenance, and wear it 24/7. Very happy with my purchase

Great Sports Watch...
Health Data Analysis The Garmin Instinct is a Sport Watch, Not a Health Watch. All the pretty charts have only full-scale range. So night time data is all wrong: 1. Nighttime Steps do not show on the charts or the calculation of awake times because the fixed range is based on exercise goals; 2. The REM sleep identifies a combination of light sleep and heart rate that seems to also pick up short deep sleep after an awake - walking period; 3. Stress picks up some nighttime events, but also has no range adjustment to make them visible; 4. O2 is also not believable overnight because I should be dead or in deep concern with 75% at sea level. The Body Battery has more health data than anything else, but again, it can't be range adjusted to see vital events clearer. GPS setup is challenging In fact, I can't figure it out? I can push the GPS button - visible only in daylight or flashlight - and I can enter the GPS location, but navigation is way above my comprehension. In fact, the watch tracked me for the first 3 days, and that was really neat: I could zoom in and see great granularity in the recorded path - on the watch face. But then it stopped, and I haven't found how to restart it. I tried reading the manual, online, because the manual is in micro-text. But Track Me didn't track me. What is missing is a plasticized chart showing the options of each switch and how they interact - I just haven't found time to make one myself. Still I wear it cause it's very attractive and rugged, and my wife gave it to me as a 75th birthday gift, but I often wear my health watch on the other wrist.

Great features
I've had this watch for a month and I am impressed by all of the features that it has. After charging it initially I haven't had to charge it again. I do work outside and it has held up well so far. Would definitely recommend.
