Not Jute. Beware if you have a straw allergy!

Very disappointed in these placemats. The description is inaccurate. They are not 100% Jute and don't even contain Jute! They are 70% Straw and 30% Cotton - Vertical straw shafts held together with woven horizontal cotton threads. First off, both my husband and I are allergic to straw. Second, the quality is awful - the cotton threads slip off the straw easily and therefore not durable. Third the straw is very sharp and pokes you as the mat sits on the table. We thought the straw fumes were fading as they sat out, but when they are touched the straw continued to emit the allergens. Definitely not worth the price even at half off!
