Noisy, squeals and sounds like a squashed cat
We have purchased a number of Vornado fans for their quiet, dependable operation. Stay away from the Helix2. We bought two of these fans from different locations. Both fans operate the same - - loud, noisy, squeals during operation, and at times sounds like a piece of plastic gets stuck on the fan blades. Not quiet at all, and difficult to use when trying to sleep or focus on tasks.

It stopped working
It was good for about a year then it just stopped all of a sudden. I have 2 of them but only 1 stopped working the other one still works. It's good when it works.

Not a good design
I've been using this fan for almost 3 years now and it's time to replace it with something better. It is quiet and sleek but beyond that, the rest is just terrible. First, the oscillating isn't consistent. It moves one speed in one direction but a much faster speed in the other so the air that does hit you is very brief which gets annoying on a hot day. Two, because of the tower design, air speed is very poor. I'm not more than 4.5 ft. away from the fan right now and I can barely even notice it's on. Fineally, the 'helix' design I don't believe was tested very well if even at all. The bottom 1/3 has zero air coming out, the top 1/3 has barely any so almost all the air is coming out of the center. So the helix part of it all does absolutely nothing except confuse you when trying to set it on you in a stationary position. It's an elongated box with a twist in it, so naturally you want to square it off to you (if that makes sense) but because of where most of the air comes out, I'm never able to set it right the first time..even after over 2 years of using it. I've finally lost my patience with it and about to get a new, more efficient fan. I've had Vornado fans all my life and love the brand but just like automotive brands, they have a high percentage of great models but each brand has that one or two models that just really didn't work out past the design phase. This particular fan model just happens to be that one that just didn't quite work the way it was intended. I tried my best to just make it work but with the summer coming up soon, I just can't do another season with this one. Time to try out another one though which I look forward to. Great job Vornado for all the great models you've provided over the years, I still am and will continue to be a diehard 'fan' of this company. -T

No power
Huge Vornado lovers! It’s the only brand we buy and have gifted them to many friends and family! When I saw the HELIX2 at our local Warehouse Store I was excited and purchased two! Although we actually enjoy the “fan” sound for sleeping (also have white noise machines, “Thundering Rainstorm” plays on the Echos, etc.) we thought having one of these parked on either end of our Home Theater set up would be perfect. Hubby and I could each have the air blowing at the speed we wanted on our side/toward our recliner and not have to turn the surround sound volume up so loud that the neighbors are forced to enjoy our movies! haha Sadly… these are a big fail! We figured placing them about 3’ - 4’ away should be alright but even when setting them only 1’-2’ away from us and turning on the higher setting there is hardly any noticeable air movement. I am constantly putting my hand directly in front of the fan to verify that it is actually on. It is VERY quiet, I’ll give it one star for that!! So, back to searching for a better “personal fan” for TV viewing and direct bedside/nightstand placement (I need cool air but an overhead ceiling fan freezes poor Hubby’s bald head!

Waste of money
I bought this expecting the power of a mini fan, but what I got was one matching the power of a battery operated hand held foam petal fan I could buy at a flea market. Very disappointed. Seriously wish someone had given it am accurate review before wasting my time and money on this.

Perfect!
Exactly what I wanted to keep my hydroponic lettuce cool, while they are growing in my laundry room. If one can call a fan adorable, this one fits the description. It has been on 24/7 for a month and so far no issues.

Great little desk fan
This is the best looking desk fan I could find. I use it at my desk at work sitting approx. two feet away from me and have been using it for the last year. I usually use it on the second speed with no oscillation. The highest setting used to be quiet, but over time I noticed a slight whine when first turning it on. The whine usually goes away after the first few minutes. This is the only issue I have. The lowest setting is useless for me as it's very faint. As some other reviews said, this really is a personal fan and will not move air in a room. I use it successfully in a cubicle. The photo on the desk is accurate and works well in that sort of setup. It's much more quiet, attractive, and space-saving than typical fans out there.
