Well built but loud
It’s a really nice fan. But it vibrates and makes a terrible noise while running. I can’t leave it on at night because it’ll keep me awake.

Hard to position, rough operation
The immediate observation about the fan (beyond how heavy it is) is that it cannot be positioned to blow at an upward angle. If the fan is placed on the floor, it can only be angled up a tiny amount. It looks like it could be angled up more, but the mount solidly resists. The more serious issue is that it doesn't oscillate smoothly; in one direction it gets stuck for half a second and then makes a distracting "plink" sound and continues. I couldn't sleep while it was running.

We recently purchased this fan. It is quiet and pushes a lot of air. Additionally, we really like its "retro" styling.

Gorgeous Disappointment…
Purchased after reading wirecutter review, gorgeous looking fan, sadly, rattles upon start up until at speed and rattles after turn off until at full stop, am too irritated to look into it, also, feel the low speed is too fast and the fan itself a bit large for intended use, but that is my problem…

Noisy and Broken
I bought two of these and the first one makes a lot of noise as it oscillates back and forth. All fans make a little noise, but this one kept me up at night. The second fan made an awful noise, as if there is a screw loose inside, rattling as the fan moves. Both fans are a major disappointment.

Very attractive in my older home
I love the vintage look of this fan. It is sturdy and well-made, very powerful, a high-quality piece of machinery that does not take up too much space. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Beautiful fan.
I had purchased this fan back in 2024. Recently in October of 2025 it started making a horrendous noise on any speed but stationary and on High. It was the fan I used nightly to sleep with it running and it does a phenomenal job at circulating the air effectively. I reached out to Vornado about the issue and they replaced my defective fan with no issues. The replacement fan is dead silent on low and the other two speeds work perfectly and I can use this one on the oscillating feature with absolutely no rattle or noise at all. I love how it is sturdy and almost all metal. The motor is of good quality as it has to spin the heavy blade set, and the bearings must be of high quality cause when the fan is powered off it takes well over a minute to come to a stop. My other one that was defective was not like that. So I am hoping like other reviews of this fan that it will last for many years. The styling is great and the tilt and oscillating features are great. It is heavy and therefore not easily knocked over. Plus the great experience I had when something was definitely wrong with the first unit and they replaced it with no issues. I have had so many Vornado products over the years, currently have a flippi fan on my desk and we use the 660 model 24/7 all year blowing straight up and it does awesome circulating the air in both summer and winter. The 660 we have had going on 3 years and it is always on unless I shut it off to clean it.
