Not sure if these towels came from a true Macy’s store because I’ve never smelled this odor on towels at the actual department stores. I’m hoping after washing the DYE and CHEMICALS used to make these towels will disappear. There needs to be a warning on this item. I will not order online again.

Please know that new cotton towels—especially those sealed in packaging for transit—can sometimes retain a factory scent from dyes, finishes, or storage conditions. This is not uncommon with direct-to-home shipments and typically fades after one or two washes. While we as the manufacturer don’t manage Macy’s fulfillment or storage process, we do recommend washing all new towels before use to remove any residual chemicals and enhance absorbency.
