The Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series keeps getting better with each book. The murder mystery at the heart of this story is intriguing and held my interest throughout but the real gem is the characters. Louise Penny infuses her characters with such vitality that they come alive on the page. The interwoven lives of the characters in this small town keeps me rapidly moving from book to book and I plan on reading all 19 books in the series. For readers not familiar with the series, I highly recommend starting with the first book,"Still Life" and reading them in order. Each book contains a stand alone mystery but the characters and their relationships change throughout the series and reading them out of order would result in spoilers. Highly recommended

Another Great Read by Louise Penny
This seventh in the series of Chief Inspector Armand Gamache brings us back to Three Pines and the artwork of Montreal. At the famous Musee there, Clara Morrow’s artwork has a solo show and from that, and a party afterwards in Three Pines, a murder occurs. Penny brings light to her characters and to her readers. It comes from the goodness and humanness of each.

A Riveting Read!
Great book! I look forward to reading other Louise Penny mysteries and to enjoying the further development of the characters in this book. The story seemed to have begun before I even opened the book, and that part fascinates me. Penny did a great job keeping me wondering "Whodunit?" till the very end. - Julie Saeger Nierenberg, Author, Editor, End-of-Life Planning Facilitator

I love this series
I love this series so much. The characters are fantastic and I love the village of Three Pines. I was so happy that Clara finally got her own art show and had great reviews. I enjoyed the descriptions of each of her paintings and the play between dark and light. When the body is found and the identity is revealed, many are surprised. The mystery was intricate with many suspects and I didn't identify the killer until it was revealed. Each time I finish a book in this series I cannot wait to start the next one. I would suggest reading the books in order.
