was I getting pranked?

I opened the box and the shoes had clearly been worn. Slight scuffs on the heels and soles, dirt, and deeply creased. I took photos just in case there's an issue returning them.

Love this particular penny loafer wish it came in a different color, which is a chocolate brown. Also wish I can just purchase it out of the store as opposed to order it but love this issue…
