My first pair of AE shoes. Don't get me wrong, these are beautiful shoes and the leather quality is excellent. However, I found these very uncomfortable. They felt fine in the store, however my small toe rubbed against the side (as other users have noted) which caused a blister whenever I wore them. Furthermore, the 3-lace design causes sharp lace bite on the top of the foot. Overall a very nice shoe to look at but I can't wear them as it just ends in pain.

Great shoe!
Make sure that this last is right for you...cannot stress enough how important it is to have a shoe "fit" properly. I have 4 pair of AE shoes...two on this last, and two on the 65 last. The 65 last fits okay, but the 333 last is perfect...really makes a difference in the feel. The shoe is very versatile, I wear it with nice jeans on the weekend, and with nice wool pants and a dress shirt during the week. I have received numerous comments about the perforated toe. Shoe looks elegant while still retaining masculinity.

Great Shoe
I got this shoe in Walnut. Of the 22 pairs of Allen Edmonds that I own, the Flat Iron gets the most compliments. I find it goes great with my business wear and works superbly with jeans or chinos. It is both comfortable and attractive. The construction quality of the shoe is very good. I do not shop for a specific size shoe with AE, the "right size" will vary based on the last that a shoe is built on. If a shoe I am interested in is built on a last that I have not worn, I will go into an Allen Edmonds store to figure out the correct size for me. I have shoes in 11E, 11EEE, 11.5D and 11.5E. Due to the elongated vamp, the 333 last is a model that will likely vary from your "off the rack" size. My "off the rack" shoe size is 11.5E. For the Flat Iron, 11E was the right size.

Very pleased
Shoes fit very well, especially for my short and wide foot. No break-in required. Shoes looks great, too. Very pleased with the shoe.

Leather quality sub par
The overall fit and design are in line with my expectations based on the three other pairs of AEs that I own. However, this s the first pair I've purchased post the Brentwood Associates buy out, and I am definitely wondering if they are trying to cut corners with leather quality. I've had the shoes for about three months now, and since day one the leather has been very loud and noisy (almost squeeky). I was hoping I simply needed to break them in, but I've worn them at least a dozen times (probably more) and they are still as loud and obnoxious as day one. I plan to reach out to customer service soon and see what can be done. If the answer is nothing, I won't be buying another pair and will have to find a different brand to embrace and pitch to my friends.

Cool statement shoes
This was my first pair of AEs,sand it's just a great shoe. The first draw for me was the styling: sleek look, slightly understated, with great quality appearance. Some here say the shoe is narrow, but I am a "D" and these fit fine. The only downside is the three lace holes. It would be perfect to have four.

seam coming apart
I have to purchase online. I returned my first pair as these run really long and somewhat wide. I am normally a perfect 10.5 B, and own six other pairs of AE shoes, all 10.5 B, but I returned these for a 10B to compensate for their extra length and width. Upon getting the proper exchange size I found the stitching on the seam on the inside upper of the left shoe to be coming apart before even wearing them. The gap was so wide between the leather pieces I could put my finger in it. I like the style of the shoe and B widths are hard to find, so I'm sending them back for a THIRD pair. A lot of work for a pair of shoes. They felt comfortable when I tried them on once I compensated in size for their odd fit, but quality control is lacking.

Great shoe for a narrow foot
I picked up a pair of Flat Iron Derby shoes at the South Coast Plaza CA store last November. I wear these shoes at least twice a week. They are by far one of the most comfortable shoes I own. I have a narrow foot with a high arch and it is usually hard to find shoes that fit well. The Flat Iron is a perfect fit and they wear well.
