Fans of Abby Jimenez and Alexis Daria will love this novel about one New York City woman skilled in producing swoon, worthy reality TV shows but whose own life is a mess, with nothing ever going according to plan. As a reality TV producer, Ana Karina orchestrates extravagant marriage proposals that always (well, mostly) go as planned. When they don't, she's not afraid to cut and paste scenes to make the moment picture-perfect. If only Ana's own life was as simple to direct. Her colleagues are getting promotions. Her best friend and her younger sister are both getting married. Everyone is moving forward, except Ana. Sick of feeling stuck, she decides to start living with no regrets. She's going to pitch all her ideas at work, no matter how unlikely. She'll take a chance on a guy even if he doesn't check all her boxes for Mr. Right. Soon, she's swept up in a roller coaster of exhilarating dates, a comedy show, a Jane Austen reenactment, a rave pool party, and a whirlwind trip to Vienna. With all this excitement, Ana should be on her way to her own happily-ever-after, but instead her life is getting messier by the second. Yet throwing caution to the wind may still bring Ana more than she hoped for as she begins to listen to her heart and realizes the life, and man, truly meant for her might be the one she never saw coming.

Such a fun read!

If you're looking for a laugh out loud rom-com, look no further. Ana Takes Manhattan is a delightful story of a woman who throws caution to the wind, challenging herself to find the "perfect" man. It's one hilarity after another as Ana tries to date four different men, each one crossing an item off her "ideal man" list, which she created years ago with her best friend. In between the funny moments, Decos weaves a tapestry of emotions, leaving the reader rooting and cheering for Ana, all the while empathizing with her. If you loved Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld or any books by Emily Henry, then you will absolutely love Ana Takes Manhattan, Decos's debut novel. She's definitely an author with a bright future.

Good Book

Ana Takes Manhattan by Lissette Decos is a wonderful contemporary fiction that kept me entertained and was enjoyable from beginning to end. I really enjoyed this contemporary fiction/ romance. Ana Karina is a fun, likable, realistic, and someone I could easily champion. The concept of Ana changing her outlook on life from the imbalances and disappointments to just…saying Yes. The new lessons, insights, experiences, and decisions she encounters on this new mission brings her hope, promise, sass, romance, and a second chance. This was fun, entertaining, and thoughtful narrative that I definitely recommend. 5/5 stars

Funny

The description of this book sounded really amazing but Ana kind of treats all of the men she starts dating like crap. She’s either less serious than they are but plays along, or she’s way more serious than they are but ignores all the red flags. I did appreciate her growth at the end and definitely liked the ending.

Laugh Out Loud Funny

I loved this book SO MUCH! It had me laughing right from the start. Sure, Ana was an immature MC but that seems to be the trend in new romance lately. I think it was done well. As for dating more than one guy at a time, at least she was putting herself out there and it was probably a lot more real than many would like to admit. I also think super sweet best friends have been done to death. This story was right up my alley of interest with me being a huge fan of the TV series Unreal. I would love to see more from this author! 4.5/5 Stars I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this ARC.

A Bit Immature

I'm not quite sure how to rate this book. I think a 3 1/2 will do but rounded up because I did finish it! I agree with several other reviewers that the characters seemed to be very immature (I believe that they were almost all supposed to be in their 30's, but I am not sure if it was ever pointed out), Ana is a reality Tv producer who has been on the slow track to fame and has also been screwed by love. Ana has this habit of making lists for everything and be prepared for them every few pages. This one list is supposed to help her find a man - "Open‑toed sandals? Gross. Mr. Casual. No, thanks. Barcode tattoo? Cut!" Of course, the men (yes, that's correct), she has four men on the string now that she is seriously looking, and none of them flip her switch except for the ex that messed her up. I'm not going to tell you whcihch ne she ended up with, but you'll figure it out because it is a well-used trope. So many of the characters were immature, selfish, and very annoying-at least, that is how I saw them. I did enjoy this book enough to finish it. It is a fast read that would be perfect for the beach. *ARC supplied by the publisher Forever, NetGalley, and the author.

Great story of the real life dating saga in NYC

Great storytelling with relatable characters who you grow to love while reading the book. Ana like many other New Yorkers isn’t a young 20 year old but a woman who got an enviable career but to her she has kinda plateaued in her mind in career & love. The story makes you feel really like you are in Ana’s head and the adventures she embarks on. It’s an easy read & a fun one with twist & turns throughout the book. This book can easily be a movie or tv series & when it ends you are left wanting more. Definitely read this one!
