Not what I hoped
I went through great lengths to get my Arris modem. Painfully so. Long story. Now that it's been up and running I'm not seeing a change from my old modem. Things get dropped on a daily basis and I feel like the buffering sign is an actual TV show. I didn't expect miracles, but I did expect it to work on a basic level. I am not happy with this purchase.

Perfect except
I purchased this video specifically because it's white. I needed a white one because my connection is above my fireplace mantel in the living room. While the modem is white, the power cord is black, which is awful.

No router
Bought this thinking it also was a router. My mistake. Would like to return as my Arris SBG10 is still good.

Arris Surfboard SB6190
This was a replacement for the next model down that was ruined by a lightning strike. I decided to buy the next model in the SB lineup because mine was already 6 years old and I figured Arris might obsolete it or Charter Communications wouldn't support its use. Like all of Arris products, it was easy to unpack and install. Charter identified the new equipment and initialized it remotely. I was back up-and-running within 20 minutes.

Not satisfied
My SB6190 performed well but had a short life. It failed after six months.

Good concept, flawed execution
I bought this modem six years ago and it was very solid/stable. It did what it needed to. About a month or so ago I started getting random dropouts then it completely stopped working. Six years is a good run and I was planning to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.1 modem anyways, so I opened it up and found out what the failure was. The modem generates a lot of heat (which discolors the plastic case, fyi) and the heat sink on the processor is held on by plastic clips. Over time the heat, apparently weakened the plastic to the point they snapped and the heat sink fell off (it's mounted sideways). My guess is that the lack of the heat sink is why the modem started dropping out and then eventually fried. This is just poor manufacturing on an otherwise good product. If they ahd used metal screws, instead of plastic clips... I'd still be using mine today.

Great upgrade!
We bought this product because we upgraded our internet service and our older Arris modem needed to be upgraded. The ordering was easy. The item arrived promptly. It was easy to set up and get running. It seems to be doing it’s job!
