An interior designer who is never without the perfect plan learns to renovate her love life without one in this new romantic comedy by Ashley Herring Blake, author of Delilah Green Doesnt Care. For Astrid Parker, failure is unacceptable. Ever since she broke up with her fianc a year ago, shes been focused on her careerher friends might say shes obsessed, but she knows shes just driven. When Pru Everwood asks her to be the designer for the Everwood Inns renovation, which will be featured on a popular HGTV show, Innside America, Astrid is thrilled. Not only will the project distract her from her failed engagement and help her struggling business, but her perpetually displeased mother might finally give her a nod of approval. However, Astrid never planned on Jordan Everwood, Prus granddaughter and the lead carpenter for the renovation, who despises every modern design decision Astrid makes. Jordan is determined to preserve the history of her familys inn, particularly as the rest of her life is in shambles. When that determination turns into some light sabotage to ruffle Astrids perfect little feathers, the showrunners ask them to play up the tension. But somewhere along the way, their dislike for each other evolves into something quite different, and Astrid must decide what success truly means.

My favorite in the series!

Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail is a delightful cozy sapphic romance and my favorite in the trilogy. Astrid and Jordan’s banter is fun and the chemistry is sizzling. I enjoyed the dual POVs so we could see where each person was struggling, even though they didn’t always share with each other. All of their behaviors made sense given what we knew, no one went over the top just to push the plot. I also liked that there wasn’t too much time spent on miscommunication. Both characters were fairly patient and supportive in tough situations and it was so sweet to read. I recommend to anyone needing something a little cozy right now.

Another hit from AHB!

Delilah Green Doesn't Care is one of my top reads for 2022. I read that book over and over and I was ELATED that Astrid was going to get her own book and that this was developing into a series. I couldn't wait to dive back into Bright Falls and Ashley Herring Blake did NOT disappoint. I loved everything about this book. I'm obsessed with AHB's writing and her ability to weave a story. This queer romance is everything my heart's wanted for yeeeears. After Astrid calls off her engagement, she's exerting control in every aspect of her life. She's always done exactly what's expected of her. She's finally got an amazing opportunity to design the infamous Everwood Inn and have it broadcast on TV with the show Innside America. What an opportunity! She has no intention of letting this fail. What she didn't count on is the lead carpenter and granddaughter of the owner of Everwood Inn, Jordan Everwood. Jordan is weaving her life back together after a huge loss. Her twin brother brings her back home, to Bright Falls to work on the renovation of their grandmother's inn. She doesn't expect to clash with the lead designer on the project. This is a wonderful story. I loved watching this enemies-to-lovers story unfold. Blake has a stellar ability to write amazing chemistry and such relatable characters. This story had everything I could have asked for, angst, chemistry, so much tension, a beautiful amount of spice, heartwrenching scenarios, and an HEA.

Astrid Parked Doesn’t Fail

Trigger Warnings: Depression, mention of therapy, cursing, alcohol, internalized sexism, past cancer, grief, gaslighting, past story of spiking a drink, past break-up, past death of parents, vomit, vibrator, masturbation, biphobia, divorce, anxiety & panic attacks, sex, break-up, cheating, toxic relationship, coming out Representation: Twins, Mental health: depression, Black, they/them pronouns, Bisexual, Lesbian Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail is the second installment in the Bright Falls series. Astrid Parker, Delilah Green’s step sister is perfect by design. She runs her own design business, attempts to make her mother proud, and until recently was engaged to the perfect guy. When Astrid is hired to be the designer for a renovation to a local inn that is being featured on tv, she knows this is the answer to all of her problems. On her first day, Astrid meets Jordan who is determined to restore the inn to its former glory, the exact opposite of Astrid’s modern plan. This tension is great tv until it becomes more of a sexual nature. Wow I loved this book! I loved the story line, the HEA, the spice, and of course the queer group of friends! This is just as good as the first story and I cannot believe I have to wait a year for the third story! I thought this book had relatable and well developed characters. Astrid and Jordan are both messy gays with a ton of baggage that they need to work out. When you mix in Astrid’s gay awakening, it’s the perfect storm! I loved how confident Jordan is in her identity. She knows who she is and what she deserves. I also loved the scenes with Claire and Delilah! And we got to learn so much more about Iris before her own book, which was awesome. The author does such a great job with writing this queer rom com. Her world is somewhere you want to visit and also feels like home. Overall, this is an amazing second story in Bright Falls and I seriously can’t wait for part 3!
