Router Is Good, Mesh Is Bad
Ever since I hooked this router up as a mesh node, my smart devices are randomly disconnecting. I've had to factory reset five of them already because they wouldn't reconnect. The router itself is a nice inexpensive unit, I think the mesh system is the problem, which isn't good because that's why I went with ASUS in the first place.

To resolve this, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Also, we recommend updating the Mesh router firmware if it is running with an older version. Still not 100 but I haven’t thrown it out yet
The device works fine but I feel like the set up process with the “apps” and optional settings and features could be simplified way more than current setup

V2 GUI has a problem with aimesh mapping
Very disappointed with the V2 RT-AX1800S. I was replacing a 1800S V1 that had performed well but got glitch. I restored the V1 config to the V2 and it booted ok with some aimesh nodes needing to be rebooted. That seemed to work until aiprotection seemed to cause nodes to not be visible in the GUI.. Clients all active just the GUI was sluggish. I let it sit overnight thinking it just needed to process thru getting the nodes worked out. Nothing was better after overnight. Aimesh in gui shows nodes but 0 clients although it is clear the clients are all working thru their nodes. Basically the V2 can't seem to handle mapping 5 nodes and 33 clients. It will be returned.

We do understand your disappointment with this router and the inconvenience this may have caused if your nodes are not visible once AiProtection was enabled. To resolve this, check if your network configurations on your nodes matches the router's settings, and the router's security credentials matches your ISP's modem information. Once network settings were verified correctly, try to power cycle the router and your nodes. Additionally, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version.
