Prom brings more than ten reasons to hate it, but nothing compares to the heartbreak of watching your beloved best friend choose someone else. In this endearing rom-com from the author of "Caught in a Bad Fauxmance," Ivelisse Santos has been Joaquin Romero's steadfast companion since their earliest playdates. More than just neighbors, they're inseparable soulmates or so Ive believes, until Joaquin decides to ask Tessa Hernandez, the same girl who stole Ive's boyfriend, to prom. While the idea of the head cheerleader and star baseball player attending prom together seems more logical than Joaquin and Ivelisse leader of the tech crew would, that doesn't mean it should happen. To make matters worse, Joaquin seeks Ivelisse's assistance in planning an elaborate promposal. Despite her inner turmoil, Ivelisse can't resist the chance for quality time with Joaquin before graduation, even if it means witnessing her best friend fall for someone who isn't her.

Not For Me

This was not for me. I thought it might be a cute friends-to-lovers but I found myself not interested in the main characters; both were shallow and unlikeable to me. There was some family drama for Ivelisse but even that didn’t hold my interest (although I did feel bad for her). I guess I wanted more depth to their characters but it all felt surface to me.

Warm and fuzzies

Thank you Random House/Joy Revolution and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. Ivelisse and her best friend Joaquin have attended a lot of school dances together and with them being in their Senior year Ive figured they’d attend their Prom together as well. With school winding down Ive is feeling the absence of their friendship, which wasn’t helped by her mom making her skip out on her Spring Broke plans. And now Joaquin’s back and he’s informed her that he wants to ask Tessa, one of the most popular girls in school, to the dance. Ive’s thrown through a loop especially as she has a past with Tessa, and not a happy one. He begs her for help. In order to spend time with him he agrees but as time passes she starts to notice him in a new light. Can she help him ask another girl to prom? Will she work up the courage to tell him how she feels? Another great one from Elle Gonzales Rose! I loved Ive and Joaquin! I also loved the other things going on in the story! Tessa’s story as well as the dynamic between Ive and her mom! Parts cute, sweet, and funny! You’ll get all the warm and fuzzies from this one!
