very firm initially

I bought this pillow with no customer reviews. When touching the pillow it seems quite padded/dense. The first night I slept on it my ears hurt due to it being too firm with no give. I think the pillow was 1-2 inch too high for me, my shoulders/head seem to be lifted from the bed. The first 3 nights was not comfy at all. Pillow is finally starting to conform to my head (slightly sinking where my head is but still very firm overall). I am waiting to see if it will sink more to a level comfortable for me.
