The towel warmer nicely heats two thinner, normal sized towels in about ten minutes. Thicker towels get cool spots, and need to stay in longer. I don't recommend putting polyester items like robes into it - they will smell funny. The lid is annoying because when it is heated up, the lid cannot open all the way, so it's tough to put towels in. If you force it open, the top plastic begins to separate from the bottom plastic of the lid. Ours has come off twice now, and we've been using it for two months. Got this as a gift, so we are living with it, but I would be sending it back if I had paid for it myself.
