Web ID: 979495Disappointment
I bought this griddle thinking that because Calphalon products are quality ones, this would be too. I was sadly disappointed. I followed the instructions on the package to clean, heat etc. it has hot spots and does NOT heat evenly - there is a rust ring that appeared after the first wash, as per their instructions, I am returning it. I will try another brand now.

Great cash iron griddle.
I noticed some reviews said this pan rusts. That is typical of cast iron. You can’t leave it soaking in water. And when you do wash it it should be dried thoroughly. One way to do that is to put it on the burner and heat it up til dry. It’s always good to wipe with s paper towel and vegetable oil.
Great Basic Grill / Griddle
Received this for Christmas (Dec 2019) and have used it a half dozen times so far. Does a great job getting a good sear / crust on meat and nice crispy edges on French toast. I've had zero problems with either food sticking or rust appearing. Cast iron always has to be fully pre-heated before putting food on it, or it will stick. Meat releases, as expected, when the maillard reaction has sufficiently occurred. Cast iron also must be always thoroughly dried (in a hot oven or over burners) after washing or it will rust. Lightly coating it with some neutral oil after dried is good too. Can't hurt to do some extra seasoning either. (Also, any rust can be scrubbed off with steel wool and salt and the cast iron re-seasoned, if rust does occur - though, if handled correctly, it shouldn't rust at all.)

Cast iron Clueless
WOW, the ignorance as to the proper use and care of cast iron cookware displayed in these reviews is amazing. It is cast IRON folks, unprotected it rusts, that is what cast iron does. Go look at the brake drums on your car, they are CI and they rust too. Washing your CI with any kind of soap will remove the seasoning. Maintaining the seasoning on CI is somewhat of an art. Go look on Youtube and there are tons of videos how to apply and maintain the non-stick attributes of a properly cared for seasoning. Also, CI is not a particularly good conductor of heat, not like copper or aluminum. You need to heat any CI up with moderate heat and allow the entire pan to come to a stable temperature otherwise you are going to have hot and not so hot zones.

Thank you for your feedback. We truly apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing with your Calphalon Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Reversible Grill And Griddle. You may wash the product by hand using hot water and a sponge or stiff brush. We do not recommend using the dishwasher, soap, or steel wool, as these may strip the pan's seasoning. To remove stuck-on food, scrub the pan with a paste of coarse kosher salt and water. Stubborn food residue may also be loosened by boiling water in the pan. Then, thoroughly towel dry the skillet or dry it on the stove over low heat. If you do not achieve the desired results, please feel free to contact our Consumer Care team at 1-800-809-PANS (7267), Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM EST.
