Back ordered to no gift

Macy’s notified me the item I ordered for my sister to celebrate her on her birthday was on back order. I spoke with a Macy’s representative when I received the email. He told me that the item would be sent out and delivered by my sister‘s birthday. Today, after her birthday, with the gift item not being delivered, I got another notice from Macy’s that my order was canceled, and they were not sending the item. This was the first time Macy’s has disappointed me.
