I think designers can do better.

I think that there's no reason you can't have a two-hook front-closure bra. It would provide more security, would prevent embarrassing mishaps. The flimsy, typically plastic one hook is non-reassuring, the four - or five - hook front closure is binding and uncomfortable, and makes one's bust look like a battering ram.
