A great beginner novel

A great first novel to read aloud or with kids as they begin to work though linger more complex stories. I have fond memories of reading this as a child and live being able to read it with my elementary school students and see them fall in love with chapter books. A true classic.

An Amazing Classic

I felt amazing after reading this so I read it couple more times! Even though the storyline is pretty sad towards the end, I feel like this book can still make everyone want to read it again. My favorite part was when everybody wanted to save Wilbur (sorry for spoilers).

The excerpt included in this posting is incorrect

Just wanted someone to cross reference this excerpt that has been posted as a sample of Charlottes Web. This is actually the opening passage from Toni Morrison's "Tar Baby". Not sure if the IT department can make the necessary updates and changes accordingly.

Do Not Get Rid Of This Book

I read this in 2nd grade, and it was AMAZING. It is about Fern and Wilbur. Fern saves Wilbur and takes care of him until Wilbur gets too big and Fern's parents make her sell it to her uncle. Wilbur is kept in Fern's Uncle's farm and makes friends with a wise spider who tries to save him because Fern's uncle wants to eat him. And Wilbur becomes famous and goes to the county fair, wins a prize, and doesn't get eaten because he's too special to Fern's uncle. But then Charlotte dies and has little baby spiders and then Wilbur tries to play with them but they all fly away except three spiders that want to stay.
