Wrong Size for me

The dress was pretty, but I had to send it back because I needed an XL and when it came it came in a medium, but when I called customer service they informed me that their sizes translate different from XL meaning I thought XL would be size 18, but they said their medium is a size 12. So wouldn't work for me.
