Absolutely Frantastic Dutch Oven
Martha Stewart and Macy's have brought these amazing Dutch Ovens to us, the consumers and Flat Out they are FANTASTIC Quality. Amazing products. From the 2 Qt. to the 8 Qt. Oval Dutch Ovens, you can bake bread, make great meals and with Macy's pricing, it is a WIN WIN. LC may make great products; but, I chose to buy these. Great Product. Thanks Macys. Happy in Paso.
Just what I needed at the right price.
I was not looking to buy this item at this time, but the price was right. It was just after Christmas. I couldn't resist as I had a big roast to make for our next family gathering. It performed just as expected.
Beautiful design and Built for Serious Cooking
When I first opened the box and took out the Dutch oven the first thing that struck me was the deep, rich red color. The second thing was the elegant design. The third thing was the heft. This is one substantially built pot. After washing it, and oiling the rims that are not enameled on the rims, I cooked Coq au Vin in it. During the cooking it was apparent that the lid was tight fitting and no steam was escaping, which promised a deeply rich sauce. And yes, when it was done, the ingredients melded into a delicious flavor. The chicken was fall off the bone tender. Following the instructions I did not use metal utensils during the process. Before washing the pot, I made sure it was totally cooled down. That took a while. This baby holds the heat ! It washed up easily, looking as good as new. I foresee many yummy meals being prepared using this gorgeous, functional Dutch oven.
Beautiful Dutch Oven
Great product at a great price. Beautiful color and cleans very easily. I also have the 6qt round which I initially purchased. I was so pleased with it I ordered the oval.
Love this Dutch Oven!
If you are wondering if you should buy this, the answer is YES! It is the workhorse of my cookware. I use this weekly. It looks as beautiful as the day I received it, Christmas 2016.
Not so fast!
I loved mine too at first----but don't plan on passing it down to your children as some have suggested. While not as expensive as others such as Staub and Le Creuset--they don't give them away either. Mine developed cracks in the enamel early on (was never left empty on hot stove top) which eventually developed chipping as Marsha described--I tried to put up with it--but the chips just got bigger. Knowing there is a limited lifetime warranty I took it back, but was turned away. Apparently there WAS an actual recall and these were replaced. BUT you had to know about it to return it and they don't take them back anymore. Apparently the limited lifetime warranty refers to the life of the pot, and mine was clearly over. When I took it back they said, "we fixed that problem" but they didn't fix mine! At least Macy's sells LeCreuset and the same size was on sale so I bought it (almost $400!) and there is an actual lifetime warranty; still, $25 towards the new one would have been nice.
Collector's Enameled Cast Iron 8 Qt. Oval Dutch Ov
Love Love Love all the ones I have ordered. Good quality and it is very nice. I have the Royal blue and it looks gorgeous. I may order the entire set in the future. YES, it is heavy but all Cast Iron cookware is. Something I can hand down to my children. :)
