Color Changing Shorts?

I bought these for my son to wear. The first time he wore them in a pool, they changed color to a light gray and only the waist band has turned back to blue. It’s super weird.

These Backcast water shorts are the second pair I've gotten from Columbia.com. They are very comfortable and you can wear them on the beach, fishing, or anywhere that you are close to water. Quick dry and easy washing instructions.
