Love This Series So Much!!!

This series has me in such a chokehold! I’m completely obsessed. I started reading this series because I grew up loving Twilight as a teen BUT this series is SO. MUCH. BETTER 😍 I wish they would turn these books into a movie series! This is book three in the series and it just keeps getting better! We build more of the fantasy world and learn about more magical creatures. The drama and twists and turns reach a new level. And of course, we have romance! And listen…I cry all the time in real life—commercials on TV make me cry, I cry half the time when I see roadkill, literally pretty much anything gets me. However, for some reason, books rarely make me cry. I’ve read nearly 200 books this year alone and I can count on one hand the ones that made me cry. This one, however, had me so twisted up I had to actually stop listening to it while I was driving because I was crying so hard at one point. This book took me on such a roller coaster ride of emotions! Immediately downloading the next book!

The best of the series so far!

Hudson states that Grace is his mate but she’s still in love with Jaxon. The three of them discover that the bond between Jaxon and Grace was created by the Bloodletter and that’s why the Bloodletter could and did break the bond. Now they and their group of trusted friends are on a mission to save Jaxon's soul. They end up in prison that seems unescapable. They meet Remy and Calder and are placed in their cell, unsure of whether they will be allies or enemies. If they survive prison, it will be a miracle. Likes/dislikes: The amount of swearing distracts from the story. I like how kindhearted Grace is. The story actually pulls me in when Hudson is arrested by the Circle after the graduation ceremony and Grace insists on going with her mate to prison; I was invested in the story after that. Language: R for 297 swears and 98 f-words. Mature Content: PG-13 for passionate kissing, petting and implied sex. Violence: R for bloody deaths. Ethnicity: Flint is black. Grace, Macy, Hudson and Jaxon are white.

In need of serious editing

Because the reviews for this series are so glowing, I keep giving the books a try. I suppose I was hoping that at SOME point, they would get better. They don't. If it's possible, they get worse. And this particular book is nothing short of horrible. Grace sucks. I hate her. She's selfish and annoying, and her internal monologues go on and on and on and...ugh. Oh, and apparently she's omniscient, since she somehow knows how all of the other characters are feeling/what they are thinking. And tells us about it. Frequently. Was this book even edited? If so, the editor in question needs to be fired. The ping-ponging, attempted love triangle between Jaxon and Hudson is ridiculous, and I don't know why either of these centuries old vamps would be interested in Grace anyway considering her horrendous personality. Then again, they both act like juveniles, so apparently they've lived hundreds of years without actually growing up. The use of stand-in curse words like "sh ite" and "a rse" are cringe-worthy at best, especially considering that the author and her characters clearly have no issue with regular use of the F bomb. I can't find a single thing I like about this book, to be honest. I liked Hudson in the second installment, but somehow the author managed to make him annoying as hell, too. I already bought the 4th book, but I'll be returning it. No thanks.

Grace is an awful MC

Dear god I love this series, but Jesus Christ could the author have made a more annoying MC? It’s unbelievable that by book 3 Grace has had 0 character development. (Unless you count the fact that she suddenly has a panic attack every single time she is given new information.) And good lord if I have to hear her say “it’s just the mating bond” one more time I’m gonna lose it. And of course author had to make her the typical “Jaxson look at me, this isn’t you.” type of girl. I really hope things begin to change because this series is starting to become painful to read. And author if you see this, please bother to do research on culturally appropriate language. For Mekkhi’s character his hair should be referred to as Locs, not locks. I’m stunned that you managed to spell it incorrectly in 3 books now.

I'm Just Bitter At This Point

* Please take everything in this review with a grain of salt. I realize I'm just bitter that Jackson is getting the short end of the stick time and time again. Here I go again with my unpopular opinions! I went into this book with no expectations due to my experience with Book #2. I've calmed down since then and just wanted to get this over with. Turns out that mindset didn't do anything for this book. I was basically numb to the characters and story from the get-go. This book being as long as it is (21 hours WTF!) didn't help things. This book should have been at most a 12-hour book. The writing is so descriptive with these 10 to 15-minute rambling inner monologues from Grace that serves no real purpose for the plotline. I know how she's feeling already. The majority of the story is told from her perspective. I don't need all this extra exposition. Let's move on with the action sequence, please and thank you. I'm still angry that Jackson was thrown to the side like yesterday's trash but there was a reason for his circumstance presented in this novel. I understand that *twist* but it still doesn't mean I have to like it. What I disliked, even more, was how after Jackson was thrown away he suddenly had no personality whatsoever. It's later explained why but it just didn't sit well with me either. Hudson was an okay character after he and Grace started talking and seeing where they stand with each other (probably around 4-5+ hours in the audio book). I see the appeal to Hudson now that I've calmed down from the last book. He truly likes Grace and wants what's best for her even if it means pushing her to go and get it. Jackson, on the other hand, wants to protect Grace at all costs. It's a different kind of love. Frankly, Jackson deserves better after that plot twist. The ending was somewhat interesting. Though I was numb and fast-forwarding through the audio book because of all the rambling inner monologues that were smack dab in the middle of an action sequence and just wanted to get it over with. I may or may not pick up the next book. I don't know if I want to put myself through another 20+ hour audio book that I don't particularly enjoy for the sake of finishing a series. The Audio Book: The narration was great. All the characters were distinguishable from each other and there were no weird noises in the background.

Addicting Series

Wow! Things are really heating up in this one! If you thought Crush was intense, it is nothing compared to Covet! I really have appreciated the character growth that each character has made since Crave. It is crazy to think that it has only been a sixth months total in all three of these books. Grace continues to learn more and more about her Gargoyle, about her Mate, and about the supernatural world. Now that she has proven to be apart of The Circle, things are only becoming more and more complicated. Especially since Cyrus, The Vampire King, will do whatever it takes to keep her from her coronation. With the school year ending and graduation on horizon, things heat up even more for Grace and her friends. Needless to say I am completed addicted to this series! Thank goodness book four was just released! I'm also super excited that there are two more books being released this year. This is definitely not your ordinary Vampire series! So if you haven't started this series, what are you waiting for?

Amazing!

When I finished the second book of the series, I immediately jumped into this one and it didn’t disappoint! The plot is beautiful and the romance is *chef’s kiss*. This is definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Thrills, Chills and Just Plain Fun

I've seen so many mixed reviews on this one due to the love triangle but I'm on the LOVED it side. Yes, Grace is a tad annoying with the flip flopping but that's the point. She is supposed to be that way. If she wasn't, and just went from Jaxon to Hudson with no moral dilemma as to her love for BOTH of them, THAT would have been what I disliked. I actually really love the emotional turmoil and the final realization, by all parties, of what their feelings are, the sacrifices they made, and how it all comes together. I know some believe Jaxon was done dirty but I see a future with his true mate coming soon. I feel it in the way the author wrote the last few chapters. I, for one, am absolutely loving this series so far. It seriously brings out the inner teen in me and for a short while I get to relive my youth and squeal like a girl, curse like a sailor, cry like a baby, and snort-laugh through the pages.
