#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER. The international bestselling sensation that was the basis for the acclaimed major motion picture. "There's rich, there's filthy rich, and then there's crazy rich... A Pride and Prejudice-like send-up about an heir bringing his Chinese-American girlfriend home to meet his ancestor-obsessed family.” —People When New Yorker Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home and quality time with the man she hopes to marry. But Nick has failed to give his girlfriend a few key details. One, that his childhood home looks like a palace; two, that he grew up riding in more private planes than cars; and three, that he just happens to be the country's most eligible bachelor. On Nick's arm, Rachel may as well have a target on her back the second she steps off the plane, and soon, her relaxed vacation turns into an obstacle course of old money, new money, nosy relatives, and scheming social climbers.

Great details!

I am not going to lie; I did watch the movie way before I read this book. But even then, I still did not know everything from the movie! Especially towards the end of the book. Although I feel like this book made me love Astrid more than anyone else. She is going through something that can be relatable to a lot of people. I did not particularly care for Eddie. I wanted to skip his chapters. I do wish that the author included the scene of Mahjong with Nicks mother. In the movie that was the ultimate power move and showed

I was given this books and I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put it down. I made to sure to buy the rest and the same effect happened. I read the whole series before the movie even came out.

Fun and addictive!

This book is even better than the movie, and I thought the movie was great! I do definitely recommend watching that too...maybe first, because the visuals are so fun, but then the book is a great follow up because there is so much more detail. I was so pleased to see that the writing is excellent—witty, satirical, well-paced. It has the humor and vibe of a modern, Asian, and even more over-the-top Jane Austen in many ways. I've been looking for a FUN read for awhile and this totally fit the bill! I definitely plan to read the entire trilogy.

Made Me Feel Rich Reading This

I really enjoyed this book! Although it was definitely slow in more than a few chapters, I am glad I read it. I loved the footnotes with different historic & comedic tidbits about the culture and I really loved the characters. Additionally, I felt rich just reading this and hearing about the different expensive cars and fancy designers.
