Defective product

DeLonghi Tru Bru Do NOT purchase the TruBru unit!!! There’s an ongoing issue with the infuser in these units getting stuck. I’ve had to call DeLonghi repeatedly about this problem. After the fourth call and dealing with this issue almost every other day, I finally asked for a replacement. They insist I have to send the unit in for repair even though I’ve been having issues since I purchased it. There are several other people who posted on other sites in regards to the same issue. Prior to purchasing the machine I called DeLonghi inquired about the two year warranty. They never said I would have to send in the unit for repair each time there is an issue. This is a total waste of money!! A lot of money at that.

Great but not perfect.

A few weeks in, and here are my thoughts: TLDR: It make s a darn fine cup of drip coffee, it's quick, it's easy to maintain, looks good, and (apart from some quirks) it's very easy to operate. Design: It looks ok, typical boring coffee machine, nothing special. The major problem is the size: It's too large to fit under most kitchen cabinets and still have access to the bean hopper. Controls: For the price, this really should include a modern LED touch screen with controls/warnings/instructions in actual English. The icons and buttons are confusing and tedious, especially for guest and occasional users. Mess: If you don't use EXACTLY the right size cup, the brewing process leaves a spray of coffee all over your counter. The culprit is obvious: "cup" area is way too large (who is really using this to brew a 24oz carafe???), and the little shelf for a single cup offers too little adjustment. If the machine simply included a sliding height adjustment or some kind of shield, the process would be much cleaner.

Great Concept, Middling Execution

I'll start with the good on this - the machine takes whole beans and makes an incredibly good cup of coffee relative to other machines with similar ease of use. The taste is miles better than a Keurig or Nespresso, both of which I used before this De'Longhi. When it works, it's nothing short of incredible. You just press a button with whole beans and bam, excellent coffee comes out. I don't really have a refined enough palate for coffee to know if the grind is right or what, but every cup comes out tasting good to me. The downside is that the machine is just so darn needy. Unbearable amount of maintenance and babying. Seems like every third or fourth cup you need to empty the waste containers inside of the machine that house the old water and grounds. And frustratingly, the sensors seem entirely inconsistent. Just this morning, I needed to empty the contents when there was literally not a single ground of coffee in the used grounds receptacle and the used water receptacle was generously 1/3 full. And there is not a way to override it. So if you buy this, prepare yourself for mornings when you're already stressed trying to fight the machine to just make the darn cup of coffee - the used receptacles aren't full! JUST MAKE IT ALREADY. To De'Longhi engineering - (a) make the used receptacles bigger - they are way, way too small and need to be emptied way, way too often; and (b) fix the darn sensors so that it only tells me to empty them when I actually NEED to. There also should be a single error debug page within the manual that lists what every, single hieroglyph on the machine means so that I don't need to wade through pages and pages of fine print just to know what this specific hieroglyph is trying to tell me. Of course, putting the error messages in ENGLISH on the machine would be better, but that would cost shareholders and rich CEOs $.03 margin on every machine sold and we can't have that! In a way this product is perfectly emblematic of most modern products; a revolutionary idea for something that could materially simplify and improve day-to-day life but then the product cheaps out and cuts corners in the worst possible ways, making it generally more frustrating to use than what came before.

Biggest mess with constant cleaning required

Great cup of coffee that works for the 1st 60 cups. After the 30 days to return, it becomes the worst coffee maker I’ve ever owned. Even cleaning it meticulously every few cups, the grounds deposit everywhere inside the machine, coffee sludge is everywhere including the counter and the machine becomes glitchy. If it worked like the first month it would have been a five but I’ve never worked so much for a cup of coffee. What a very expensive mistake.

Am unable to adjust amount of beans being ground, therefore coffee too strong. Have purchased 5 different beans, to no avail. Website has been of no help to me.

Poorly metered

Makes good coffee but the ounces selected does not match the output, it is way off. If I select 16oz I get exactly 12oz out.
