Good Thriller
I really enjoy finding debut authors. Disha Rose didn't disappoint me. I really liked the short chapters which makes it a real page turner so it was a quick read for me. This book deals with modern day issues, such as Internet power and bullying are dealt with organically and in unconventional ways. This is above average in the twisty domestic thriller category. I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait to read her next book.

Everyone Has Dirty Laundry
Ciara’s murder is revealed at the beginning of this domestic thriller set in a small Irish village and the remainder of the book is spent sifting through the many possible suspects. And there are plenty! Three women living nearby entertain us in this deliciously wicked debut. We follow their current capers while getting glimpses into the past that shaped them. Ciara has married a wealthy businessman she takes for granted. She earns money as an influencer and her followers see her picture-perfect life in her posts. Her IG husband adores her and her IG children are well-behaved. She’s great at spending her husband’s money while her income supports a secret life. Mishti left her home in India to live with a controlling, emotionless husband she barely knows in Ireland. Her true love in India begged her to elope with him but she couldn’t disgrace her parents so she let them send her away to live in a loveless, arranged marriage instead. Ciara searched her out for friendship and is her only friend. Lauren was raised in this community but has always been an outcast. She left for a while but returned for financial reasons. When her grandmother died, she left her the house. She lives there with her children and partner, Sean. They are forced to live in the unwelcoming hometown that Lauren despises because Sean is an aging womanizer that can’t keep a steady job. These three women are nothing alike. Ciara loves to be the center of attention and in control. She’s used to getting her way and married a wealthy man that she could control. Mishti is easygoing and likable. She has no control over her life since she married and moved to Ireland. Her husband is a bully and controls everything. Lauren is very headstrong, like Ciara, but with very rough edges and no money. Their first meeting was a disaster and they’ve never gotten past it. It seems like Ciara is the one that stoked the fire of their feud. I don’t think Lauren cared enough about it until Ciara kept taking jabs at her. Reader reviews are very mixed on this one and I understand why. Most of the story was entertaining. Lots of drama. Very unlikeable characters making bad choices. Suspenseful as we wait to see who gets their Karma and who killed Ciara. Then the ending came and I was disappointed. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by some great reads lately. I appreciate the great writing and all the hard work the author put into the book, but I was waiting for a big twisty ending that didn’t come. not a murder mystery
I probably should wait before writing this review. and give myself a chance to forget the horrible ending. LOL It is tainting my view of the whole book. I did enjoy the writing style and the "larger the life" characters. The writing style is similar to "Big Little Lies". However, I would not compare it to "Big Little Lies'. It is not nearly as good. The description refers to a murder. The book is not a murder mystery or thriller. I would compare it more to a soap opera or The Bachelorette. I did not realize the direction of the book from the description. I had to push myself to finish for the review. I received this galley from NetGalley

4.3. Filter, clean slate, jealousy…
4.3 Filter, clean slate, jealousy… A tale of three neighborhood women and their significant others. Ciara, married to Gerry, is the “it girl.” She is an Instagram star with “comments and adoration fulfilling her “ (somewhat). The other women “looked to Ciara for advice and validation.” The others were desperate for “crumbs of her approval.” Mishti is considered to be Ciara’s best friend. Originally from Calcutta, Mishti and Parth have an arranged marriage. Lauren and the father of her children Sean, are carefree spirits. Lauren grew up in this village, sneered by all. Not all is as it seems! And now Ciara is found dead. A tale of catty women — Meow! * A good debut! I would read future books by this author. I read she just finished another book. * You will find out who the victim is in the first 30 pp. How did she die? Lots of possibilities! * What an ending! * What a drama queen Ciara was!

Mean Girls Grow Up
Dirty Laundry is Mean Girls – all grown up. The story centers around three women in an Irish village. Ciara, Misthi, and Lauren. Ciara seems to have it all. A loving husband, two beautiful children and a rising career as an influencer. Misthi is from India. She is in an arranged marriage with one child. Misthi is questioning a past decision that would have changed her life. Lauren is the misfit. She always has been the outcast. She grew up in the village and has a history with some of the other moms. The storyline was difficult for me to enjoy. The characters made decisions that I felt no rational person would make. The husbands were basically wimps. The ending, however, did surprise me.

A solid and delicious debut!
Ciara, Mishti and Lauren are neighbors in a small Irish village. They have different backgrounds - Ciara gives the impression of having the perfect life and family; Mishti and Parth have a picture-perfect immigrant story and Lauren is ostracized for being 'weird' and having an apparent dysfunctional family. Then Ciara is found murdered in her pristine home and there's no one to blame. Mishti and Ciara are best friends whose friendship is on the brink of collapse because of Lauren while Lauren and Ciara started their relationship in the most wrong way. Their dynamic felt like Pit bulls having fierce and wild fights and this book was delicious to read. DIRTY LAUNDRY unapologetically captures the expectations about motherhood and wife - there are moments of "better parenting" and Bose digs deep into the despair about lack of time and self-care. For this mother and wife, some struggles were very relatable and I was nodding in agreement. The bitterness, jealousy, animosity and helplessness felt so tangible, balanced by hilarious and unbelievable instances. This book shines a spotlight on the needs, lack of privacy x physical and emotional appreciation. The most interesting part is immersing in the characters' backstory and for someone judging Lauren at first, you even feel bad for her after learning more about her past. This novel also has sharp observations on the marriage, branching into love and deceit. Bose provides a close look into arranged marriage and the way marriage can deteriorate over the time. Furthermore, some unique aspects of this book are the exploration of Indian family (culture) and the sneak peek into the mind of a social media influencer. This is a literary thriller heavy on literary, when the mystery (surrounding the murder) becomes backdrop. I thought the ending felt rushed and wouldn't have minded reading 50+ pages. DIRTY LAUNDRY is a domestic drama about imperfect lives that readers will want to read when feeling petty. I overall had a 'fun/satisfying' reading experience and I am excited for Bose's future works. A solid debut!

Soap opera in the age of social media
This book is a sort of soap opera about an influencer and her friends and neighbors in a small Irish village. They are all very unhappy and emotionally confused women. Ciara the influencer married for money not love and wants to be loved and admired by all. She puts details about her perfect home and family out there for all to see, but looks can be deceiving on the internet. Mishti is from India and is in an arranged marriage she didn't want because she was afraid to follow her heart. She is very shy and has no friends so Ciara befriends her. Lauren grew up in the village but she is still, and has always been, an outsider. She lives behind Ciara's mansion in a tiny home left to her by her grandmother and is the antithesis of that "perfect wife and mother". She lives with her ne'er-do-well boyfriend and their three wild kids. She wants to be friends with Mishti and is envious of Ciara. But as they say, three's a crowd. As the women air their dirty laundry on the internet, relationships falter. There is a death early in the book, and we spend the remainder of the book going back and learning more about the women and their husbands, trying to figure out who did it. Really it could have been any of them. The author tells the story in chapters with the date and time (pay attention) told by the various characters. We learn more about them and their backgrounds in this way. The story was interesting and the writing good. My biggest problem with the book was the fact that most of the characters were truly unlikeable. I felt sorry for Mishti and almost felt sorry for Lauren. Ciara was truly awful, caring only about herself and what the world thought of her. The ending was a bit of a surprise. All in all, the book was okay-not my favorite but not a total flop either. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
