Instant New York Times bestsellerRetired U. S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, who found himself at the center of a firestorm for his decision to report the infamous phone call that led to presidential impeachment, tells his own story for the first time. Here, Right Matters is a stirring account of Vindman's childhood as an immigrant growing up in New York City, his career in service of his new home on the battlefield and at the White House, and the decisions leading up to, and fallout surrounding, his exposure of President Trump's abuse of power. 0900, Thursday, July 25, 2019- President Trump called Ukraine's President Zelensky, supposedly to congratulate him on his recent victory. In the months that followed, the American public would only learn what happened on that call because Alexander Vindman felt duty-bound to report it up the chain of command- that the President of the United States had extorted a foreign ally to damage a political challenger at home. Vindman's actions and subsequent testimony before congress would lead to Trump's impeachment and affirm Vindman's belief that he had done the right thing in the face of intense pressure to stay silent. But it would come at an enormous cost, straining relationships with colleagues, superiors, and even his own father, and eventually end his decorated career in the US Army, by a Trump administration intent on.

We Need More Patriotic Americans Like Alexander Vi

I bought a hardcover copy of this book a few days after its release. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is an American patriot who has put his love of our country above his own career ambitions. He knew that he would likely be forced to resign from the Army if he testified about actions of top leaders that he observed. Mr. Vindman decided that the truth was more important than his Army career. Kudos to Lt. Col. Vindman.

Typical Military Officer who is an elitist

With 22 years in the military I saw so many officers who thought that they were more important than the mission. His grand image of himself as he had to amend his own description of his "Portfolio" as being the one who was in-charge of Ukraine. I find it funny how he used the system to get himself and his brother ahead only to have those he worshiped betray him, That's what happens when you put yourself above the mission.

Very good

It is a very good book, flows very well, and has excellent detail. But for me, this was a hard read, not only because of Vindman's impeachment experience and testimony but also because of the Iraq war descriptions. I recommend it.

Inspiring life story

This is a well written book by a man who truly believes in his country and its core principles, and lives his convictions. The book covers his life, as well as the incidents that led to his firing and Trump's impeachment. It is refreshing to read about someone who values principle over expediency and cynicism.

A excellent, essential book

I was in the 5th Avenue store and bought a pre-signed copy of the book. The book isn't just about the July telephone call with the Ukraine president. We learn of Alexander Vindman's growing up in Brooklyn, his military service in Korea and Iraq. His forced retirement from the military as a result of his testimony is a loss for the country.

A true hero

This is what valor looks like. This is what patriotism looks like. This is what it looks like to uphold your oath and to put country over self interest. We all owe a debt of gratitude to this upstanding servant who stood up for the truth.

Completely biased

The accusation of “abuse of power” is an accurate description for the author as it is he who abused his position, trying to set his own foreign policy.
