Humble-Bee Nurse-Sling Classic Nursing Pillow

I have been using this while nursing my second baby. I found that this sling supported my baby better than a traditional nursing pillow. I found it difficult to get my wiggly baby situated in the sling. Once she was situated I was able to use both hands to help my toddler. The cushioning on the shoulder strap is really nice. Overall the sling is nice but I didn’t find myself using it very often. I received this product from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
Nice idea
When I got this product, I thought it was such a good idea. I thought it would be so helpful while nursing! However, after trying the product, it seemed a bit unnatural to use and was another accessory to take around with me. I’m typically more of a simple person so it could’ve been a bit too extra for me. I didn’t find it to support the baby’s body enough so I was still having to support her in some way. The baby didn’t love having it around her either. It could work for some but wasn’t the best fit for us. I received this to try as part of the stellar product testing panel.
Useful nursing support especially when on the go!
The Nurse-sling was very comfortable to use and is really soft. I loved the extra pocket with zipper to store some extra items you may need close by when nursing. It’s a little different than a nursing pillow because you can adjust the distance between you and the baby and more compact making it easier to take on the go. This nurse-sling helps free a hand and gives your arm a break so you don’t need to prop up a pillow to get some relief. I was also able to use the sling when I needed to prop up my daughters knees when she was sleeping in her chair. It was a perfect size to give her legs a little lift and put her in a position that makes her more comfortable. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this nursing sling.
Great idea in theory
I love the idea of the Nurse-sling. However, I didn’t find that it freed up my “nursing arm any more than another pillow might have. I still felt like I needed to have my arm under baby, under the pillow, to support him. It didn’t seem like he could stay latched well without my arm there. When I did find the Nurse-sling useful, though, was while nursing standing up. I have older children so I often need to nurse baby while also doing something else. By using the Nurse-sling in reverse (across the shoulder on the same side on which baby is nursing) you can use it to help support baby’s body/legs and have that hand free. With previous babies, I could do this without help but this baby boy is very long and hard to support and nurse one-handed. I think nursing while standing will be my primary use of it. I haven’t had a chance to travel with it yet, but it would certainly be much more compact for travel. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this nursing sling.
Great nursing pillow for travel
The Humble-bee nurse-sling is one of those products that are super helpful for travel. The material is nice, the padding comfortable (which explains the price tag- you get what you pay for!). It isn't 100% hands free but does make nursing comfortable. I had better posture and was able to be on my phone or flip through a magazine with my other hand. I have a preemie who has some latch issues so this was not ideal for us full time, but as she grows I can see us using this on all our trips. I also really like that the company thought ahead and designed it so you can use it post-nursing. Yay for sustainability! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for letting me and my little one try this out.
Would buy again
I actually really like this nurse-sling. It's different than those pillows that you rest around your waist. The baby can sit on your lap in a semi reclined position while the nurse sling helps hold her up. It takes the stress off my back, shoulders and arms. Makes it super easy to hold her while she feeds. I can get up if I need to with the sling supporting her weight. I can make my morning coffee again! Change out the laundry if I forgot to do it the night before...(Whoohoo!) with her in my arms, instead of having to wait. I also love this sling because my baby likes to fall asleep in my arms, and this sling helps keep her tucked close to me. She has a nice pillow to lay on instead of my boney arm. It's way more comfortable for both of us. The padding on the shoulder strap makes it so the strap isn't digging into my neck. For use on the go this is pretty great. I can stash all my stuff. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this nursing sling.
Nice but cumbersome
First off this sling was very comfortable for both me and my baby, who is currently 3 months old. The trouble I had with it is that it's pretty cumbersome and as an experienced nursing mother it didn't seem to be that helpful for me to get a comfortable breastfeeding position. I could see it being beneficial for a first-time mother or someone who has a baby who nurses for long periods of time. For me and my baby, who only nurses 5-10 minutes, it seemed to just add more complexity to our nursing routine trying to get a comfy position. Once I got it situated it was very comfortable, but it just felt superfluous and like it took longer to get in position than the length of my baby's patience. The other issue I have is that it says specifically that you should not walk around while using it, and for a mother with a toddler as well it's not always feasible for me to stay seated the entire time I'm nursing. Useful
The Nurse-sling was useful, but I don’t think I would call it a “must-have” item. I generally breastfeed without any pillows, but it was nice to be able to use both hands to eat or type on my phone while using the Nurse-sling. My baby and I frequently had a hard time maintaining the right position we needed for a good latch, but when we got it right it worked well. I also had a hard time keeping the shoulder strap from creeping up onto my neck, though when it was positioned correctly, it was comfortable. It was also handy, once baby fell asleep after nursing, to just loosen the strap a bit and baby had a comfy sleeping position and my hands were still free. While I wouldn’t have bought this pillow for myself, I find myself using it occasionally when I want two hands to do something while nursing. I was happy to receive the Nurse-sling as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
