Don’t Ever Give Up
After reading “I Never Had It Made” by Jackie Robinson, I learned about how hard it was for him to live his life and be a baseball player. This book wasn’t just really good, it was actually very motivational and it gave me an understanding to never give up. Jackie Robinson became one of the most successful athletes at UCLA, after that It was very cool to see him in a different environment by playing major league baseball. No one liked him, no one wanted to see him succeed, everyone just wanted him to stop playing and for him to get out of sight. Jackie was a world changer. He challenged the Jim Crow Laws and fought for African American justice. He not only became the first African American major league baseball player, but he also inspired the world to do what he did. Before I purchased this book, I wish that I knew how much civil rights movement stuff was in it. I thought that this book was just going to be all about his baseball career, but I am glad they added in a lot of civil rights movements things it really made the book a lot much better. I would recommend this book to whoever plays sports. I don’t think it matters if you play baseball or not, I think any athlete would really enjoy this book. All in all, this book exceeded my expectations and I’m so glad I gave it a chance.
