Great Watch. Poor Service from Macy's.

I purchased this watch online for my 15-year-old son for Christmas. We visited the store on December 31st so that links could be removed for a better fit. We approached the watch counter and asked the associate for assistance and he asked if the watch was purchased at Macy's; I said yes. My son was holding the box in his hands and the associate said Macy's doesn't carry that brand. I explained that it was purchased online and was asked to provide proof of purchase. No problem. Mind you, he was assisting people at the time my son and I approached the counter and the implication that I did not purchase my watch at Macy's was embarrassing. The people being helped began judgmentally looking at me and my son. As I was pulling up my order on my phone another associate came over to assist us and I was asked again if the watch was purchased at Macy's. I said yes, again, and let her know that I was pulling up the receipt. She walked us over to the jewelry counter and the first associate followed; stepping away from the people he was helping to check my receipt. I don't understand why that required two people. She commented, "You know why I have to do that."  The female associate who took over was admiring the watch and the male from my first interaction proceeded to tell her that Invicta was a nice brand and he bought his dad one for Christmas. Funny that he initially said Macy's didn't carry the brand, yet he purchased one for a relative. While the woman struggled with removing the links another female associate came to provide her with assistance. At that time, a woman and her son approached the jewelry counter beside me and my son. She asked to look at earrings and removed her watch to have links removed. The 2nd female associate took the watch from the woman and got straight to work. There was no inquiry about where the watch was purchased, no request for a receipt. Only assistance. While it is normal to request proof of purchase and expected, I do believe that there are discriminatory practices being exhibited by Macy's customer service. You see, me and my son are black; the other woman and her son were white. We witnessed blatant profiling to the degree that my son questioned me on the way out as to why the other woman wasn't asked for a receipt. That is not okay. I shop at Macy's often and have my entire life and have often felt unwelcomed but not to this degree. I usually have to seek out assistance where other, non-black, shoppers around me are approached with a willingness to assist and greeted with a smile. That is not okay. I just reluctantly placed a new online order for a coat for my son and hope that all goes well with it because I dread the thought of needing to visit a store again. That is not okay.
